Jennifer Lopez reflects on her adorable encounter with husband Ben Affleck.
In an interview with Variety , Lopez recalled her first interaction with Affleck on the set of 2003's Gilly , where the two first met.
“The first time I saw him in that movie was at the reading,” she shared. "I remember just walking in and I think he was outside smoking and I saw him and we talked for about a minute and then I sat down and we read through it."
While Lopez doesn't remember "much more" of their first meeting, she does remember "being on set with him every day and loving it."
Affleck also looked back on his time filming Gilly. In 2022, Entertainment Weekly revealed that his well-publicized relationship with Lopez at the time influenced the film.
"I started building this relationship with Jennifer Lopez, who was selling a lot of magazines and seemed to generate a lot of enthusiasm," he recalls. "They (the studio) predictably latched on to this, saying, 'They want a romantic comedy. They want the two of them together. More of this!'"
Bennifer's relationship
Lopez was married to ex-husband Chris Judd while filming the romantic comedy with Affleck. She later filed for divorce from Judd in 2002, the same year Lopez and Affleck (later known as "Bennifer") announced their engagement.
The two went on to film another movie together, 2004's Jersey Girl , which was released two months after Lopez and Affleck ended their engagement. After 17 years, the couple rekindled their relationship and tied the knot in 2022.
Lopez will work with Affleck again
The "This Is Me...Now" star also revealed to Variety that she would be open to filming another movie with Affleck if the right project came along.
"Maybe, in the right things," she told the outlet. "I mean, we love working together and being together, so maybe."
