After a self-described “crazy week,” Joe Jonas addressed the elephants at Dodger Stadium. The singer's divorce from Sophie Turner seemed to take center stage during the Jonas Brothers tour in Los Angeles on Sept. 9 in between songs as he disconnected from concertgoers. "I just want to say, listen, if you don't hear it from these people, don't believe it, okay?" the musician, who was not wearing a wedding ring, said in a fan video posted on social media. said the cheering crowd. "Thank you all for your love and support for me and my family. I love you."

Following his comments during the concert, Jonas immediately launched into a performance of "Hesitation," the song that famously inspired his Game of Thrones exes. According to Billboard , while promoting their 2019 album Happiness Begins , Nick Jonas described the song as a love letter from his brother Joe to Turner. When the entire project was released that June, center JoBro described how "important" the song was to him, explaining in the editor's notes section, "I wrote this for my other half, Sophie. Song, it's one of those love letters you write to your partner that says, 'I'll be there no matter what.'"
Jonas didn't stop there, either. "It's like the vows I made before I wrote them," he further explained in the 2020 Jonas Brothers documentary Chasing Happiness about his "commitment to Sophie." "For me, it takes me to another universe. Every time I close my eyes, I see her walking down the aisle again."
So naturally "hesitant" took on a whole new meaning when he performed the song on tour, especially on the same day the estranged couple announced their divorce. When the Jonas Brothers took the stage in Phoenix, Arizona on September 6, discerning fans noticed the lyric change, which also quickly went viral on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) pass. The original line was "Don't be afraid, 'cause I'm on your side," with Jonas reportedly replacing "your" with "her," leaving his supporters emotional.
Even the most ardent "Hesitant" fans have allowed the band to drop the song from their 2023 tour slate, although the brothers have yet to accept their generous offer.
