With the release of Beyoncé's latest album , Cowboy Carter , fans are in for a treat - including her "II Most Wanted" collaborator Miley Cyrus. Queen Bey has been her "role model" since she was a teenager, so it's understandable that Cyrus enjoyed the obvious pinch-me moment. She took to Instagram on March 29 to sing Beyoncé's praises, including several throwback clips that illustrate how long she's admired Beyoncé.
Flowers for Beyoncé
"I was in love with Beyoncé long before I had the chance to meet and work with her," Cyrus wrote after announcing the release of their duet. "Now that I create with her, my admiration is even deeper. Thank you Beyoncé. You are everything and more. Love you."
Cyrus also thanked "everyone who took the time to make this song so special," but that wasn't the end of her tribute. She has posted a series of stories on Instagram that have marked her becoming a Beyoncé fan since at least 2006. Two throwback clips from the 2006 American Music Awards are particularly cute. Cyrus, who is just days away from her 14th birthday, said she was "so excited" to meet her "great role model" Beyoncé. "My mom always told me, 'What would Beyoncé do?'" she said.
When MTV UK posted one of the clips on TikTok, one fan summed it up well, writing: "This old beauty."

Miley and Beyoncé's friendship
The two singers did meet when she was a teenager. In another clip posted to her Instagram Story, Cyrus listed her most treasured outfit: a personalized, bedazzled cheetah jacket that Beyoncé gave her for Christmas. She noted that it was the first "little thing" she got from Queen Bey.
Another fitting clip she made was one that fans resurfaced after Cyrus won her first Grammy in February. It's taken from a 2010 episode of her Disney sitcom Hannah Montana , which shows her character Miley Stewart writing a Grammy acceptance speech for her pop star alter ego . "Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, I can't believe I'm in the same category as you-o-o ," she said, practicing her fake cry. Who knew it would be relevant so many times in 2024?
Cyrus' trip down memory lane also included a photo of her looking like a fan while singing with Beyoncé during the 2008 "Facing Cancer" live TV special. Last year, she shared how special the day was in the Disney+ documentary Miley Cyrus - Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions) , so she added the video to her Instagram Story on March 29.
"I'm sandwiched between Beyoncé and Rihanna," she said. "What I remember most about this show is that I was standing between two of my biggest idols and legends that I looked up to at the time, and they always treated me like a little sister. They were really sweet."
Fans are grateful that it all led to their collaboration on Most Wanted. "The duet we deserve," one person commented on Cyrus' Instagram post.
