Every few months, a new TikTok filter pops up and takes FYP by storm. Not so long ago, the Bold Glamor filter gave everyone ridiculously over-the-top makeovers, or the Dancer Generator turned our pets, posters, and pills into a horde of breakdancers. But getting the latest results on viral treatments doesn’t prepare you for being on camera or taking action. Instead, couples are using fast food-themed filters to help plan their date nights, and honestly, it's so cute.
Deciding what to have for dinner can be a controversial topic for many couples, but this popular TikTok feature may put an end to the debate. The filter, called Which Fast Food, was created by user @sofunnyvidz in August 2022 and covers many different fast food options, including Chick-fil-A, Wendy's, Dunkin', Chipotle, Popeye's, and more. Around May 2023, creators started letting filters choose where to go for dinner with their partners, and the viral trend has helped people plan tons of dates ever since.
Here's how it works: A filter falls behind a restaurant, and both parties decide whether they want an entree, side, or dessert from that location. Partners tell each other what they plan to take off the menu, and once that's done, they have to actually order their respective courses. Oh, and everyone skips that one because there's nothing worse than a bad date night meal.
It's unclear who started the trend, but as of June 12, the Which Fast Food filter has been used in more than 3,400 videos, with several receiving hundreds of thousands of likes, including by Carrie Young ( This post by @getcarriedawayy). In a game of dinner date roulette, the TikToker and her husband both decided to get an entree from Chick-fil-A and a dessert and side from Wendy's.

Meanwhile, TikTok couple @maya.and.hunter tested their luck with the filter, and Maya wasn't "happy" with her results. At least she doesn't have to go to Papa John's, which seems to be the least popular restaurant on this whole trend.

While @allthingskings_ was trying the strainer, the couple decided to split the sides of their respective Wendy's so they could enjoy a roasted potato and some chili. After all, they say marriage should be 50/50.

Just because you're not coupled doesn't mean you can't be part of it. Bestie @becs.mel uses this filter when she's feeling "hungry," and judging by the laughs, it seems to be a trend to spice up a girls' night out.
