I Tried Demi Lovato's New Vibrator and Here's What I Really Think

Last month, Demi Lovato announced a partnership with sex technology company Bellesa to launch the first sex toy, The Demi Wand. "There's nothing more empowering than taking your happiness into your own hands," they told Shan Boodram on the 4D podcast. "We've spent too long pretending we're not sexual beings - it's time we remove that shame. We all deserve pleasure. We all deserve an orgasm."

The "Sorry Not Same" singer has long been a champion of LGBTQ+ rights and came out as non-binary earlier this year. As a performer, Lovato inspires people to bravely conquer taboos through the simple act of being herself. They help everyone, especially the queer babies in the room, feel a little better about themselves.

So when I heard Lovato was about to launch a vibrator—and not just a vibrator, but a wand-style vibrator—I had to get my hands on one. After trying it out, I can confirm that yes, it will get you out of trouble, and no, this toy doesn't care about your gender, body, or relationship model. Instead, this compact toy adds inclusive fun to all forms of sex, a delightful reminder that there's more to sex than just penis-to-vagina intercourse. (But, that being said, this toy can enhance that too).

The half-wand is as discreet as promised while still being incredibly powerful

The Demi Wand is a "whisper-quiet" wand vibrator. It comes in a flip-top protective case that doubles as a charger, both of which make it an ideal travel companion. Unlike the gendered fuchsia that vibrators often come in, the Half Wand is a cheery yellow that's meant for solar tarot cards and the neon Gen Z queer scene. Not so into bright colors? It also comes in a ballet slipper-like nude pink color.

I'm a big proponent of powerful wand vibrators and consider my Hitachi wand an integral part of my sex life. However, while it is a sex toy staple, even I admit it has limitations. First of all, masturbating with it anywhere outside of your bed is nearly impossible because it's so big. It's also noisy, so even if you can fit it into a suitcase, you'll have a hard time using it carefully.

This is where half-wands really excel. Not only is it small, but the cute charging case (five and a half inches) can hold anything from sunglasses to makeup. (The Hitachi wand, by comparison, is about 12 inches longer.) So it's great for traveling and, as promised, very quiet. When I first turned it on, I was worried it wasn't strong enough. I'm happy to report that I was wrong. The Demi Wand delivers powerful, deep, rumbling vibrations that help you reconnect with yourself despite its petite size.

The half wand works great alone or with a partner

I currently live with my partner and we have a lot of sex. (I know, I know, please forgive me for bragging!) It makes it all the more exciting when I carve out some time on the weekends just for me and my body to give Half Wand a good practice. I took it out of the box, opened it, and well, it wasn't long before I came. This wand is really powerful and can bring about a near-instant (and extra-long) orgasm just by pressing it against your clitoris. Yes, it's small, but don't let that fool you, this thing packs a punch. Here's another bonus: There are eight speeds, but none of those annoying mode settings that no one uses and seem to exist just to get rid of your high.

After learning that the Demi Wand was my new best friend in solo gaming, I had to see if it would work with a partner. Remember, sex is essentially consensual sexual pleasure. This includes penis penetration, strap-on sex, and oral sex involving any combination of orifices, fingers, toys. As I mentioned, the Demi Wand is small and flexible, yet powerful, allowing you to smoothly add it to sex with your partner. In addition to placing it on my clitoris during penetration, my partner has also used it on my other erogenous zones, such as my nipples (note, this toy will be more intense if you have nipple piercings.)

It's easier to orgasm during partnered sex and my mind is filled with imaginative ways to use it with different genders. For example, two people with vaginas can enhance bondage or oral sex by taking them to bed, and two people with penises can enhance intercourse by playing with their testicles or even licking their anuses.

Cleanup is also easy. Just wash with soap and water or use toy cleaner. It's made from body-safe, non-porous silicone and is waterproof.

It would be a dream of mine to add this toy to a threesome, but, since it's also waterproof, my next step is to try it in my bathtub for some magical masturbation nights.
