Bette Midler reprises role as 'Hocus Pocus'

Since 1993, one thing has been clear: Halloween classic Hocus Pocus deserves a sequel. If you're like me and still clinging to that dream, then take heart because Bette Midler has brought some extra magic into the world that's sure to keep you hopeful. Midler dressed up as her character Hocus Pocus ' Winifred at the Hulaween party at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City on Friday. OMG, someone get me a vacuum cleaner and a big pot because I'm totally in Hocus Pocus nostalgia right now.

Can everyone also take a moment to appreciate Midler's gorgeous look in this outfit? The 70-year-old actress went to great lengths to recreate Winifred's beloved look. From her red hair and broomstick stacked hairstyle to her power combination of heavy makeup and flowy, flowy dresses, Midler went all out to recreate a truly iconic look.

Suffice it to say, it got my nostalgia going super strong (especially during Season of the Witch), and Midler's spot-on Halloween costume reignited my desire for Hocus Pocus 2 to finally come to fruition. Because, come on, Hollywood—it's not just fans who want this. Miller, the film's main star, clearly wants this to happen. I mean, if this costume isn't enough to prove it, her past comments about the Hocus Pocus sequel certainly do.

Midler has spoken out numerous times in support of the film eventually being released one day. Back in 2014, during a Reddit AMA with Midler, the star revealed that she, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy were all excited to be involved in a potential sequel, but Disney needed It takes a lot of support from fans to make this happen. she wrote,

Flood the Disney Company because I have lobbied the girls and they are willing to do it but we have no say so if you want HOCUS POCUS 2 , ask the Walt Disney Company.

Midler told Billboard on Thursday that she's still confused as to why the film wasn't greenlit. "I can't for the life of me understand why there wasn't a sequel," she said. Me too, Queen. Me too.

I mean, at this stage, if the good people at Disney don't see Midler in that amazing Winifred costume and think "this Hocus Pocus sequel needs to happen immediately," then I think it might actually It takes some real witchcraft to convince them.

With that in mind, if anyone wants to do some magic with me, then hop on your vacuum cleaner and meet me at midnight - maybe we can combine our powers and make this Hocus Pocus sequel finally happen. Well, either we all had a few cocktails while performing "I Put a Spell on You"... whatever.
