Dua Lipa pays homage to Britney Spears in '00s-inspired denim dress

Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia tour continues with its final stop later this month. The "Don't Start Now" singer continues her reign as the queen of millennial nostalgia so far, debuting lace neon bodysuits and commanding skirt suits on her tour. However, her latest look embodies one of the most iconic early moments: the denim gown worn by Britney Spears at the 2001 American Music Awards.

While Lipa wore Balenciaga and Mugler for much of the tour, for stop 93, Lipa opted for head-to-toe denim by Italian brand Blumarine. She shared several photos on Instagram showing off a studded gown from the spring 2023 collection.

The fitted look included a corset-style top with round silver studs that matched the entire length of the gown. The light-wash denim dress also features a train and an oversized belt, fastened by an Old English "B" buckle (for Blumarine, not Britney). Otherwise, her only accessory is a Blumarine cross necklace, reminiscent of the 00s brand Ed Hardy.

Given Lipa's penchant for all-denim looks, this move felt particularly on-brand. This summer, the pop star celebrated her 27th birthday in a denim-print bikini, paired with vintage denim Dior boots (the same pair Beyoncé wore in the "Jumpin' Jumpin'" music video).
