Fans think Beyoncé's 'Gateway' tour outfit looks like the scene where Death Becomes Her

Beyoncé kicked off her Renaissance World Tour with a nearly three-hour extravaganza on May 10, and everything from her 35-song list to her jaw-dropping props and costumes got the Beyhive buzzing. . Some fans on Twitter even thought her shimmering silver bodysuit in the show's second act looked a lot like a scene from the 1992 film Death Becomes Her , thanks to the mirrored "stomach hole" in the middle. Reminds them of Goldie Hawn's stomach hole in the movie.

According to creative director Nicolas Di Felice, Beyoncé's outfit was custom-made by Courreges and was inspired by the French fashion house's fall 2023 mirror collection, which also includes pieces that replace the stomach hole with a round mirror. It's unclear whether Di Felice was inspired by Death Becomes Her when designing the collection, but some fashion TikTokers have linked the two.

The cult classic stars Meryl Streep and Hawn as rivals fighting over a man and a magical elixir of eternal youth. Their fight culminated in Streep putting a bullet through Horne, but she hilariously survived with a hole in her stomach, leaving a lasting impression.

Call the factory!

During the show, Beyoncé's fan accounts immediately compared her second look to a scene from "Death Becomes Her." The 32-time Grammy winner's Renaissance Tour visuals were clearly inspired by a sci-fi aesthetic (yes, unlike the album, the tour has visuals), with subtle nods to other musical and cultural icons throughout the show , so probably not a distant stretch.

This isn't the first time Twitter has spotted similarities between some of Bey's previous looks and memorable outfits from the movie, with one fan comparing her 2021 Grammys dress to Streep's from the movie Black revenge dress compared.

Beyoncé hasn't previously expressed any fandom for Death Becomes Her , but would it be surprising if she liked the movie? After all, it did win an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
