Selena Gomez compared herself to another beauty on TikTok, but the monster mom doesn't agree. On February 21, Lady Gaga responded to the Only Murder in the Building star saying she wished she was as "beautiful" as model Bella Hadid, whom she has a relationship with has had some troubling history.
In a since-deleted TikTok, Gomez lip-synced to the model's viral voice, saying: "So my name — my name is Bella Hadid" while trying out the boo Deed inspired filters. "I wish I could be as beautiful as Bella Hadid," she wrote in the video. She later shared a second video, minus the filter, showing what she had done to her brows. "Instead, this is who I am. I accidentally layered my brows too much," she said. "My name is Selena Gomez. Look! It doesn't sound sexy at all."
The lady disapproves of this self-criticism. As seen in comments captured by PopCrave, the 13-time Grammy winner responded to Gomez's video in support and encouraging self-love. "You look beautiful inside and out," she wrote, calling Gomez "one of my favorite ladies alive!" Both TikTok videos have since been deleted, including Gaga's comment.
Some fans in the comments sections of Twitter and TikTok used the post to pit Gomez and Hadid against each other in response to the videos, and their previous history didn't help. In 2019, the actor commented on Hadid's Instagram post, calling her "stunning," but when a fan account posted that the model deleted the photo after Gomez's comment, She responded, "Too bad," along with a crying emoji.
Some fans speculated that Hadid wasn't interested in friendship because Gomez previously dated her then-boyfriend The Weeknd for a while, but Gomez quickly posted a comment on Instagram asking fans to stop speculating. "No. I shouldn't be speaking without knowing the truth," she told one fan. "I'm sorry. Please don't be hurtful. She's a great person and this was all a misunderstanding."
Confronting Hadid was not Gomez's intention. As BuzzFeed points out, she also posted a photo of Hadid on her Instagram Story with the hashtag "#girlcrush," which has now expired. Hadid has not responded to any of the posts.
