Sophie Turner returned to Instagram on Oct. 8 amid her divorce from Joe Jonas, and her post (which she later appeared to delete) appeared to reference a beloved photo. Favorite Taylor Swift album.
A related Instagram story showed a photo of Turner wearing a friendship bracelet that read "Fearless." While the accessory is totally a pain reliever, Swift speculates that the bracelet may be a reference to Swift's album of the same name. The friendship bracelets themselves could also be seen as a tribute to Swift, as her fans recently began making and sharing friendship bracelets during the singer's Eras Tour concerts.
It's not like Turner is ignorant of Swift's lore: She and Swift are friends and have been spotted together multiple times since Turner's divorce made headlines. The singer even reportedly loaned Turner her investment property in Tribeca so she could stay while she split from Jonas.
If Turner did want to reference Swift's music, she didn't choose the album title randomly. "Fearless" holds special significance in this context, as it was released a month after Swift split from Joe Jonas. (The two dated for several months in 2008.) The album contains many songs purportedly about the Jonas Brothers singer, including "You're Not Reason," "Jump then Fall," and, most notably, " Forever & Always, Swift reportedly wrote in a 27-second phone call after their split.
When Swift released a re-recorded version of "Fearless" (Tyler's version) in April 2021, fans further speculated that the new "from the Vault" track "Mr. "Perfect"" was also written about Jonas. The theory even got Turner's confirmation: "This ain't no pop music," she quipped on her Instagram Story at the time.
Jonas filed for divorce from Turner on September 5, following several reports that the couple was "on the verge of divorce" after nearly four years of marriage.
Weeks later, Turner filed a lawsuit against her estranged husband, accusing him of withholding her two daughters' passports and preventing them from returning to the UK. Jonas denies the accusations, saying he did not "kidnap" their child and that the lawsuit goes against the "friendly co-parenting system" they are trying to create. His rep said in a statement: "Joe is seeking co-parenting with the children so that they will be raised by both parents, with the consent of the children of course being raised in the United States and the United Kingdom."
The pair are currently participating in four days of mediation to resolve their child custody issues.
