Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have a lot in common, from starting The Mickey Mouse Club together to carving their own paths to music stardom.
Given their history, it's only natural that Aguilera receives some praise in Spears' new memoir , The Woman In Me . However, not all of these memories are happy.
During a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host asked Aguilera if she wanted to be mentioned in Spears' memoir. "I don't know! Do I hope ? I hope she's okay and everything is wonderful," she said. However, when Kimmel pressed her further and said he wanted to be involved, she quipped, "I'd rather it be you than me."
She inevitably appears in the books - though not as much as fans might think. Spears didn't go into too many details and didn't even mention her by name when writing about her VMA performance with Madonna, but she did mention Xtina at different points in her career, all of which had different contexts and emotions.
Mickey Mouse Club Rejection
As it turned out, both Spears and Aguilera were rejected when they first auditioned for The Mickey Mouse Club , even though casting director Matt Casella saw their potential.
"A girl from Pennsylvania, Christina Aguilera, and I were told we didn't advance, but we were talented," Spears wrote. "Matt said we could be on the show when we were older and more experienced. He told my mom he thought we should go work in New York."

When they finally landed on the Mickey Mouse Club , the two ended up being classified as newbies and sharing a dressing room backstage.
“The Mouseketeers quickly splintered into our own little clique, divided based on the dressing room we shared: Christina Aguilera and I were the younger kids, and we were with another girl, Nikki DeLoach Sharing a locker room," Spears explained.
"We looked up to the older kids - Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling and Tony Luka - and I thought they were very handsome. Pretty soon I got hooked up with a boy named Justin Timberlake Contact." Of course, the rest is history.
Christina's Comments on Britney and JT
After splitting from Timberlake, Spears experienced a wave of sexism and negative press, in part due to his 2002 "Cry Me A River" video. However, Aguilera was on tour with Timberlake at the time, meaning they were indeed together, with Spears mentioned for obvious reasons.
"While the news about me is generally unkind, the entertainment media is filled with positive stories about Justin and Christina Aguilera," Spears wrote, noting that Aguilera was on the cover of Blender , " Dress like a lady from the Old West. "
In that interview, Aguilera said Spears "seems to me like a lost little girl, someone who desperately needs guidance."
Spears did not directly address the remarks in her book, but she did comment on Aguilera and Timberlake's joint cover for Rolling Stone .
"In that story, she said she thought Justin and I should get back together, which is really confusing considering how negative she was elsewhere," she said.
Continuing with the X factor
When talking about her time on The X Factor , Spears mentioned the judges who have done well on The Voice , including Xtina. "I think a lot of people are professional on TV, like Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani," she wrote.
"They thrive when the camera is on them. That's great." However, she soon realized that being judged on TV wasn't her thing, saying she "absolutely hated it."

Years after they last met, Spears said she hired dancers who had worked with Aguilera on one of her tours and eventually reunited with her — though she didn't have much to say about it .
"Supervised tours are strictly sober, so we are not allowed to drink," she wrote. "I met Christina in Los Angeles with the dancers. She looked like a mess. But the dancers and I ended up swimming in a beautiful pool and then sitting in the jacuzzi."
