In Chill Chat, Bustle sits down with celebs to discuss all things wellness, from their favorite skincare products to tips for a good night's sleep . Here, Vanessa Hudgens reveals her guilty pleasure TV shows, go-to breakfasts and the workout regimen she sticks to.
Vanessa Hudgens is a proud granola girl, or rather, a "granola-loving girl." When it comes to health, the actor-singer prefers to ignore unconventional TikTok trends and stay in her comfort zone.
"I didn't really do anything," she tells Bustle. "I've never had a vampire facial. I've never had Botox before. When it comes to all that, I'm a very granola girl. I'm a very trend-averse person."
However, in 2023, this confident attitude will serve her well. In December last year, Huggins tied the knot with Major League Baseball player Cole Tucker after three years of dating. While planning a wedding with a busy work schedule can be stressful, she kept it running smoothly just by sticking to her usual routine.
"This person married me because I am who I am, so I don't have to do anything different," she said.
Huggins knows what works for her, and she hopes to bring that same mindfulness into 2024. Below, she talks about her tried-and-true daily routine, her favorite way to relax, and her best health tips.
What does your morning routine look like?
I get up and wash my face. I'm a very skin care girl - I first have to give my skin some vitamins. Then I drank a big glass of water because I woke up dehydrated.
What do you usually have for breakfast?
This year, I've committed to adding more plant-based nutrients into my diet, and the best way for me to start is with a smoothie in the morning. [I work with] Silk [on their Feel Planty Good Challenge, which] makes it easy to do that — I've been trying out a lot of different recipes.
I also love eating good quality cereal. I'm going to have it with some silk almond milk. I love avocado toast moments. Sometimes I just mess up. I'm all over the place, but I think breakfast is very important and shouldn't be ignored.
How do you drink coffee?
I'm a big latte girl and I love having syrup in it. I have a collection of salted caramel, salted vanilla — all kinds of different flavors — at home.
What’s your favorite workout right now?
I just rotate between indoor cycling, Pilates, and yoga. They work for me. They make me happy and are good for my mental health and my tiny body.
What songs are on your workout playlist?
It depends on my mood. Sometimes Megan Thee Stallion. Sometimes Gesafelstein.
Do you find your old music popping up every now and then?
Oh no. I can't do that. I've never been the kind of artist to say, "I'm going to listen to my song now." If it comes up, I guess, skip it.
What’s the most alternative health remedy you’ve ever tried?
I went on a yoga retreat myself, which I thought was pretty daring. But I made a lot of friends and really focused on my practice, and I learned a lot.
How do you like to unwind at the end of a long day?
I'm a big bath girl. I shower almost every day. I'll light all the candles, add some bath salts, some magnesium, and maybe a Lush bath bomb. I also have a TV in the bathroom, so I put on guilty pleasures like Love Island or The Bachelor to decompress.
What other guilty pleasure shows do you watch?
Honestly, any dating show. I'm fascinated. I watched the finale of "Bachelor" last night. That's what I'm here for.
What do you need to get a good night's sleep?
It must be very cold. The thermostat must be at 69 degrees and no higher than that. Even 70 degrees is a bit too hot for me. I just love being tucked under a blanket and it’s cold outside.
What’s the best health advice you’ve ever received?
Listen to your body. It's easy to compare yourself to others, but what works for someone else may suck for you. If you're feeling exhausted, maybe you need to take a break—and really listen to your body. Sometimes you just need to sit on the couch and watch some great dating shows.
