How to watch TikTok on TV

what to know

  • You have two options: install TikTok on your smart TV or share your device's screen with your TV.
  • The TikTok TV app works directly on some Samsung, LG, and Android TVs. Search for it in your TV's app store.
  • Mirror and project your work from phones, tablets and computers.

This article explains the different ways to watch TikTok on TV. These instructions work on Android, iOS, iPadOS, Windows, macOS, and a variety of smart TVs and streaming devices.

If you have a supported device, you can install TikTok directly on your TV. The TikTok TV app works on a variety of TVs:

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Android TV
  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • LG Smart TVs (2018 (webOS 4.0) and newer models)
  • Samsung Smart TV

These steps include screenshots for Android TV, but they should be essentially the same for other supported devices.

  1. Search for TikTok from the apps menu on your TV.

If you're using Android TV, you can trigger the installation from your computer via the link below, as long as your TV is logged into the same Google account as your computer. If you do this, continue to step 3 below.

Otherwise, follow the remaining steps for the TV itself.

If you're not sure if this applies to your TV, click this link. If you see the message "This app doesn't work on any of your devices," you can't use this method.

  2. Select Install on this screen and wait for it to download and install on your TV.

  3. If you haven't found the app yet, find the app and select Open or Launch .

  4. Select "Sign In" to sign in to your TikTok account, or "Watch Now" to start watching without an account.

If you don't have a TV that can install the TikTok app, another option is to use the app normally on your device and then cast the video or mirror the screen to show the video on your TV. There are a few ways to do this, but the easiest is to tap the cast button in the mobile app.

These steps are for Chromecast-equipped TVs. Android must be running Android 6.0 or higher, and iPhone needs to be updated to iOS 12.0 or higher. Here's how it works on Android phones:

  1. On your phone or tablet, open the TikTok video you want to watch on your TV.

  2. Click the share button.

  3. Scroll through the menu and click Cast .

  4. Select your TV or streaming device from the list. TikTok will open on your TV.

If you're using TikTok without the mobile app, you can still show your videos on the big screen through your desktop web browser. Learn how to mirror your computer to your TV, or if you have a Chromecast, how to send TikTok tags to your TV.

If these wireless methods don't help, you can always connect your device to your TV via HDMI. It's a physical connection, so you'll need to sit closer to the TV than you'd like, but it creates a more stable connection than wireless and works with all modern TVs and projectors.

Depending on your device, follow one of these guides: Connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV, Connect your Android device to your TV, or Connect your computer to your TV.

Unlike YouTube and nearly every other service available on every screen imaginable, TikTok was only a mobile app in the United States until 2021, when it came to TVs as an app. Europe and North America are the only regions where the app is available. If you can't watch TikTok through the Smart TV app, your location may be to blame.

If you want to cast or mirror your device wirelessly, you'll also need to be on the same Wi-Fi network as your TV. If your phone, tablet or computer can't play TikTok on your TV, first check if they are on the same network.

If you're not familiar with how it works, you may have problems with mirroring and casting. Mirroring requires a compatible TV or streaming stick, so if your device can't mirror itself, TikTok won't appear on your screen.

If you can't cast from the TikTok app or website, there are several things you can do to fix the problem when your Chromecast isn't working.
