Adele clarifies this viral meme of her sitting courtside at an NBA basketball game.
In February 2022, a video circulated online in which the singer looked disinterested and avoided eye contact with the camera. On February 17, during her Las Vegas residency, Weekend with Adele, she shared the true story behind the viral video.
"Do you remember that viral meme where I looked like I didn't care?" she asked the audience. "This is going to sound crazy, but I really don't like being famous, right?"
Adele, who attended an NBA game with boyfriend Rich Paul, went on to reveal that she was actually "looking for Michael Jordan" and asked not to be filmed. “The guy with the camera came over and asked me twice,” she said. "They said, 'Do you mind if we videotape you? Can we put you on the screen?'
Adele revealed that she "didn't realize they were showing the movie on TV" and revealed that she intentionally looked "everywhere but the camera."
"I was so angry because I asked not to be filmed... I was like, 'These assholes are back and filming me against my will!'" she added.
Speaking to the audience at Caesars Palace, Adele also responded to claims that she used lip fillers in the video, clarifying: "The reason my lips look like they have fillers - because I was born with them. With big lips, I don’t need fillers – it’s because I sulk.”
adele's european residency
Audience interaction has become an important part of Adele's ongoing Las Vegas residency, which ends in June 2024, a few months before she launches in Munich, Germany, on August 14 European Residency Program.
She announced the 10-year residency in a statement on January 31, saying, "I can't think of a better way to spend my summer in a venue so close to home. Place to end this wonderful phase of my life and career." An exciting summer. Guten tag babes. "
