Julia Fox talks about her journey into celibacy. During a May 20 interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen , the actor explained why she decided to be celibate, revealing that she hadn't had sex in more than two years. "Nothing good comes from sex, including kids," she said, before clarifying, "No, I'm just kidding."
Fox explained that she chose celibacy after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022, jeopardizing abortion rights in many U.S. states. "I think with Roe v. Wade being overturned and our rights being taken away, this is one way I can take back control," she said. "It sucks that it has to be this way, but I'm going to feel uncomfortable until things change."
She hadn't planned on being abstinent for so long, but she quickly reached two and a half years of celibacy and had no plans of ending it anytime soon. "It was six months, then a year, and then I was like, 'Oh my gosh, it's been almost 2 1/2 years and counting,'" she said.
Foxx revealed that she is currently celibate while commenting on a TikTok video criticizing a Bumble billboard that read: "You know very well that taking a vow of celibacy is not the answer." She replied: "2.5 years of celibacy, says The truth has never looked so good.” The dating app later apologized for the ad campaign in a statement and said they would be removing the ads nationwide.
When Cohen asked her if she missed sex, Foxx responded with an emphatic "no," before explaining that wasn't always the case. "In the beginning, yes," she clarified. "But I think it's like getting over anything—smoking, doing drugs, whatever it is. Eventually, you forget, and then all that energy you put into sex can be put into other things."
Fox gave birth to 3-year-old son Valentino with ex-husband Peter Artemiev in January 2021 and briefly dated Kanye West in early 2022 , and then took a vow of celibacy.
