Ariana Grande is diving deep into her new album , Eternal Sunshine , which was released on March 8. On the emotional title track, the singer appears to address her divorce from husband of nearly two years, Dalton Gomez, and hints at new details that are making her Fans saw their relationship in a new light.
While Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind " (Grande is a famous Carrey fan, after all) inspired the entire album, the 2004 film's influence is greatest on the title track obvious. Taking inspiration from the film's storyline, Grande undergoes the process of erasing the memory of her ex-lover and their entire relationship from her mind - metaphorically, of course.
"So I try to erase my mind so I don't get so crazy," she sings. “I’d rather forget than know, exactly, what we could have fought for behind this door.”

Some fans even believe Grande may have hinted at infidelity in the relationship, providing new context for their split. "It's like I'm looking in the mirror now," she sings. "Hope you feel good when you're around her."
However, she tried to end the painful process with a happier ending, seemingly briefly hinting at her new relationship with Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. "I found a good boy and he's on my side," she sings. "You are my eternal sunshine, sunshine."
