After the multi-billion dollar success of Barbie , Margot Robbie is moving on to her next project: The Sims movie based on the iconic video game.
According to The Hollywood Reporter , Lucky Chap, the production company the actor runs with Tom Ackley, Josh McNamara and Sofia Kerr, plans to work with Vertigo Entertainment and Electronic Arts, which published the original game, to bring " The Sims" adapted for the big screen.
Director Kate Herron ( Rocky Season 1) will helm the film and co-write the script with Briony Redman.
Released in 2000, The Sims is one of the best-selling live-action simulation video games in history, with nearly 200 million copies sold worldwide.
In case you missed the hype: The Sims designer Will Wright once described the game as a "virtual dollhouse," where players can live virtually through avatars with personality traits, develop relationships and Going through milestones like starting a family, finding a job, having sex.
According to Entertainment Tonight , development on a live-action Sims movie first began in 2007 but never came to fruition. In 2019, after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, the company canceled plans for the adaptation.

While details about the film, such as cast or release date, have yet to be announced, fans of the video game have been quick to share their excitement.
"A Sims movie and Margot Robbie? We're being fed," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "We're already seated," another commented. Some joked that The Sims movie would be "pointless" unless the characters spoke the "sim" language in the game.
