Lizzo 'locked up' with boyfriend Mike Wright

Lizzo may have had a very public flirtation with Chris Evans, but now, she's officially "in love" with her boyfriend , Mike Wright. On June 6, Lizzo made her red carpet debut with her new beau at the For Your Consideration event for the Amazon Prime Video series Lizzo's Watch Out For the Big Grrrls . After the screening, the 34-year-old Grammy winner posted a slideshow from the event, which included two photos of the couple posing on the red carpet, with a ring on her left hand, prompting some fans to get engaged rumor.

However, she laughed off the engagement rumors in an interview with Elle UK on July 20, even joking that "it's a bromance," downplaying their relationship. "I see my glam squad more than I see my men," she quipped. That said, her relationship with Wright is "everything," as she told Vanity Fair in October. "I've known him for over six years. We just love each other. That's it," she said. She went on to call him her "life partner" and "the love of my life" but said they only got married for one reason. "If I wanted to start a business with him, I would get married because then you're financially stable," she explained. "I love weddings. I want to have a wedding, not get married."

It seems the "About Damn Time" singer has changed her mind about the ending. On the Dec. 12 appearance on The Howard Stern Show , Stern asked Lizzo if she thought she would marry Wright and have children with him. “I will never be with anyone else for the rest of my life,” the Yitty founder states unequivocally.

While it's unknown how long Lizzo and Wright have been dating, the two dated all the way back to 2016, when they co-hosted and starred in the former MTV show Wonderland . The singer opened up about their relationship during a July 15 interview with "The Breakfast Club," revealing that they were friends before she became famous. “I surround myself with the most genuine people,” she said. "Everyone around me knew me before all of this happened, and I think that's important. Even the guy I was with, he knew me before all of this. We were friends. When they were in 2019 Things were different when I met you years ago.”

In a July interview with Apple Music, the singer told Zane Lowe that love is "at the heart" of her second album Special , whether it's self-love or romance. "I think everything I did before Special was in pursuit of love," she said. " 'Cause I Love You' is almost an autobiographical album about who I want to be... 'Special' is almost a celebration of who I am now and it's very relevant. "I think the only thing that can truly exist is love. Place is now. "

Of course, fans are identifying songs that may have been inspired by Wright, pointing to the romantic lyrics of "Break Up Twice" and "Coldplay." Lizzo spoke about the latter song with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in an Apple Music interview, revealing that every romantic detail in the song, like performing the band's songs on a trip to Tulum, actually happened. "I was with someone and I was just looking at the stars and I was with him and I was singing this song and tears came to my eyes," she said. Needless to say, Wright loved the track.

The actor and comedian was first spotted with Lizzo on Valentine's Day at Los Angeles hotspot Craig's, where he was dressed in head-to-toe black and wore a face mask embroidered with hearts so that only his Eye. His identity was difficult to identify at the time, but fans quickly concluded it meant Lizzo was dating someone. On April 26, the two were seen again at Craig's house for her 34th birthday party.

During a live interview with SiriusXM's Andy Cohen on April 18, Cohen asked Lizzo if she was still involved with the then-mysterious man. After laughing, she replied, "Yeah, whatever, yeah," before confirming rumors he was backstage during his SNL hosting debut. "You got the scoop, didn't you?" she teased. Cohen then asked if it's difficult to be in her shoes when her man doesn't appear to be a celebrity. Moments later, the "About Damn Time" singer said: "Not if you have the right person. Not at all, that's not even a factor. No matter what the person does, there should be mutual support."

Lizzo has been very private about her love life in the past. During a concert in May 2019, she revealed that the lyric "Newcomer to the Minnesota Vikings" from her hit single "Truth Hurts" was about a man from her hometown of Detroit. But this is the closest she's ever come to revealing her dating history.

However, she has been very vocal about the importance of self-love and not needing a relationship to feel complete or fulfilled, even while dating Wright. While she's "not a polyamorous person," Lizzo told Vanity Fair that she doesn't like to adhere to the traditional rules of monogamy to guarantee her independence. "How nice would it be to be one completely separate person and to come together and be two completely separate people?" she said. "It's not 'you complete me, you're my other half.'" No, I am complete and you are amazing. We are like mirror images of each other. We are connected. But that doesn’t mean I was incomplete when I met him. "

Since her relationship with Wright became official, Lizzo has been sharing how "in love" she and her man are. But in the documentary "Love, Lizzo," which airs Nov. 24 on HBO Max, the Grammy winner gave fans a fuller look at her deep relationship with Wright. She shared her on-again, off-again relationship with Wright over the years. "It's painful because I love him. But honestly, I don't think I'm ready for love yet," she said. On why she included him, she told Glamor on December 1, "He's not only very important to my personal life, but also to who I am as a creator."

During the Dec. 12 episode of The Howard Stern Show , the "2 Be Loved" singer elaborated on how strong her feelings for Wright were in the past. "For him it's different because if you like something you let it go and if it's meant to be, it comes back to you. We all let it go because that's what happened in our lives A lot of things." Luckily, they rekindled the connection "when the time was right" and had a "conversation" recently. "We just recently said, 'We're in this together. It's official.'" She added, "We're locked in."

However, the pair's recent social media behavior may point to a different story. Although Lizzo liked one of Wright's posts in December and added a tongue-out emoji in the comments section, Wright has not liked any of Lizzo's posts since November. On Nov. 25, Wright shared a clip from his stand-up set in which he joked that God might be a woman because he's "jealous," which may have a more revealing meaning since both men are known to have grown up from themselves. Get creative inspiration from your personal life.

On Dec. 25, Lizzo posted a cryptic Christmas greeting that referenced "crazy plot twists." "It's been a weird year. Ups and downs, plot twists. All I can say is: stick with the ones you love and expect the unexpected. Eat something good today and give someone a hug," the singer wrote road.

As of December 27, the two no longer appear to follow each other on Instagram. It's unclear if this means there's trouble in paradise, or if the two are safe enough not to spy on each other's social media activity. Lizzo hasn't updated fans on her relationship status yet, so hopefully they're still on good terms.
