Now that you're a real-life adult, you can ditch the "family-friendly" plans and treat mom to more adult Mother's Day activities this year. That doesn’t necessarily mean taking mom out for unlimited brunch mimosas. (But if you do decide to go this route, know that I have your unwavering support.) I’m talking about treating your mom as an equal this Mother’s Day—treating her like a friend. So why not give mom a 24-hour break from her responsibilities and treat her to a Mother's Day activity you can enjoy together as grown women?
If Mom is into sports, consider signing the two of you up for a charity 10K race. Not only will you feel good knowing your funds will be used to support a noble cause like breast cancer research, but you'll also experience a shared sense of accomplishment when you cross the finish line together. Does your mom like to slow down and incorporate nature into her life? Then plan a wilderness hike together, stopping to admire the birds, flowers, and fresh air along the way. If mom would rather stay indoors and let herself be creative, grab a pair of tickets to The Moth StorySLAM. Who knows, she might be inspired enough to take the stage herself.
The bottom line is, no matter what activities you decide to plan this Mother's Day, the most important thing is that you and your mom experience these moments together as adults.
