Zendaya's Met Gala Look Is Darkly Romantic

Zendaya looked stunning in a gothic floral look at the Met Gala. Of course, you'd expect nothing less from the Challengers star, who has worked with stylist Law Roach to create unforgettable red carpet moments at the annual event over the years.

On the first Monday in May, she once again proved that her style has no boundaries, debuting a vampire twist on the "Garden of Time" dress code. The actor chose a mermaid-inspired gown that evoked strong fairy tale whimsy, taking fashion's current love affair with fruity prints to new heights.

Wearing Maison Margiela custom haute couture by John Galliano, Zendaya is no stranger to bold looks. This one-shoulder gown with a sweetheart neckline is crafted from tulle and lamé in complementary shades of blue and green.

What’s most interesting about this look, however, is the subtle addition of fashion’s current favorite grapevine pattern, giving the piece an editorial feel.

her 1920s vampire charm

Of course, it wouldn't be a true Zendaya look without that oomph in the storytelling. To match the glamorous beauty of the gown, she sported a chic gothic makeup look that felt straight out of 1920s Paris.

Her look, paired with a romantic smoky eye and wispy brows, felt like a continuation of the porcelain doll look that John Galliano debuted at Maison Margiela's Artisanal show in January (yes, It’s just pubic hair makeup). Vampire lips and burgundy nails were just the icing on the cake for a perfectly conceptualized look.

her second nocturnal attack

A Met Gala darling, Zendaya exceeded all expectations with her second fairytale look. This time, however, she embodies more of a Victorian aesthetic. During her second lap of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, she wore a bustier Givenchy gown designed by John Galliano for the brand's spring/summer 1996 collection.

However, it's the classic McQueen headpiece that really stands out. The topper, designed by Phillip Treacy, was covered in brightly colored roses and really enhanced the stunning second look.
