Now, the owner of phone (1) need not be so envious of the person who owns phone (2).
Nothing has yet to release a major software update for its first smartphone, the Phone (1).
The company announced the update via its official Discord server. "The launch of our first smartphone begins a new chapter," wrote Nothing's community manager Rob Godwin. "Upgrade to Nothing OS 2.0 for exciting new features, enhanced customization, and improved functionality."
New additions include Phone (2)'s signature theme set, which gives everything a unique monochromatic look. There is nothing that comes with the Quick Settings widget for Phone(2). They allow you to flip a switch when you want to toggle certain features of your phone(1), such as its rear Glyph light. You can now also add widgets to your device's lock screen. Additionally, the update adds the option to enable "basic" Glyph notifications for your most important apps and contacts. These actually keep the Phone (1)'s rear Glyph light on until you're done with the notification. Elsewhere, the addition of cloned apps allows Phone(1) users to run two instances of the same app on one device. This is great for those who need to manage multiple social media accounts easily.
Nothing OS 2.0 is based on Android 13. Nothing is currently beta testing a version of the skin running on Android 14, though the update doesn't yet have a release date. If your phone(1) has not yet prompted you to install Nothing OS 2.0, you can manually try downloading the update by navigating to the System Updates section of the Settings menu. Nothing has never released the Phone (1) in the United States, but the Phone (2) is available now for $599 and up.
