Whether it's because it's filled with information you don't need, or because it's blank and takes up too much space, you may find yourself needing to delete an entire page in Google Docs from time to time. The process is different from deleting an entire page in Microsoft Word because Word has a built-in feature to delete any page instantly, but Google Docs does not have this feature.
How to delete blank pages in Google Docs
If you have a blank page in the middle of your work, the easiest way to get rid of it is to place your cursor at the beginning of the next page and press "Delete" or "Backspace" until the page above disappears. If this doesn't work right away, there might be a hidden page break somewhere, but slowly press the Delete key to remove it.
This is easier in "Page" view rather than "No Pages" view. In the pageless view of Google Docs, you won't see page breaks at all; it's just one long document. Make sure you see the page by clicking "View" next to "File" and "Edit" on the top line of the command. From there, you'll see "Show Print Layout." Make sure there is a check mark next to it.
How to delete a page with content in Google Docs
If you want to remove a page that contains text or other content, highlight the entire page. You can't press Command+A or Ctrl+A like normal because this highlights the entire document. (Remember, if you accidentally go too fast and press Command+A on everything and then delete it, pressing Command+Z quickly will undo the action and put all the work back where it belongs.) You must To do this manually, place your cursor at the end of the last word on the page and drag it up to the first word. If the page doesn't fit on the screen and you're having trouble keeping the highlighted text from showing only what you want removed from the page, temporarily change the view. Under the row of options starting with "File" and "Edit," you'll see a row with a backwards error for "Undo," along with other options like text size and font. Find the drop-down menu with a percentage in it, which represents the zoom. Adjust the zoom level until you can see the entire page on the screen, this usually happens around 75%.
Once everything is highlighted, press the Delete or Backspace key. It first clears all highlighted text, leaving a blank page, but pressing the button again removes that page as well.
Troubleshooting deletion of pages in Google Docs
Finally, if you have a blank page at the end of your document and you don't have it there and can't easily backspace it, the problem may be the spacing on the closing paragraph of the page above it.
Go to "Format" and find "Line and paragraph spacing." Click "Custom Spacing" and make sure there is a "0" in the "After" box under "Paragraph Spacing." After applying the changes, the blank page at the end of the document should disappear.
