Samsung expands artificial intelligence to popular Galaxy Watch range

Artificial intelligence may be able to give you a deeper understanding of your health data than you can.

Samsung just announced plans to extend its on-device artificial intelligence technology to its upcoming new Galaxy Watch to help users view their health information in new ways.

The company promises to provide "meaningful and actionable insights" to help you manage your activity, including a new Energy Score that combines all your personal health metrics such as sleep time, consistency, wake time, previous day activity level, heart rate, etc.

Wellness Tips will provide a variety of insights into your activities, as well as motivational tips and guidance based on your fitness or health goals.

Junho Park, vice president and head of the Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning Team, said: “By extending the power of Galaxy AI across our ecosystem, we hope to open up all new possibilities through optimized and connected experiences, providing users with greater Personalized and intelligent.”, in a statement. "Bringing Galaxy AI to Galaxy Watch is just the beginning of this process, and we're excited to showcase more integrations across the Galaxy portfolio soon."

Samsung promises to enhance its AI-driven sleep algorithm with newly added metrics to provide more detailed sleep insights. New metrics added include movement while sleeping, sleep latency, sleep heart rate, and breathing rate while sleeping.

The company has also added new measurements, such as aerobic threshold/anaerobic threshold heart rate zone measurements for runners and a functional threshold power metric for cyclists. A new feature called Races also allows you to compare current and past performance on running and cycling routes.

The new AI features will come to Galaxy Watch later this year with a new One UI 6 Watch. A beta program will also launch in June for "a limited number of Galaxy Watch users."
