This article explains how to upload a new avatar on Discord using the desktop app, browser, and mobile app.
The process of adding or updating a profile picture is the same across browsers and apps. You can also delete images; Discord doesn't require one.
Discord places restrictions on changing avatar images. Users are limited to two attempts within 10 minutes to prevent attempts to circumvent Discord's terms of service.
Open the application on your PC or Mac.
Click the settings cog in the lower left corner next to the current image.
Select the three-dot menu to the right of where the image is located.
Select Change Avatar .
To delete your avatar, select Delete avatar .
Select an image.
You can resize or center the image as needed.
Click Apply .
Click Save Changes .
The process of changing your avatar via the Discord mobile app is similar. The screenshots below are from Android, but the process is the same on iPhone, just the look is different. Likewise, you can delete your profile picture entirely if you don't want it.
Open the app on Android or iPhone.
Click on your profile picture in the lower right corner.
Click My Account .
Select an image or image placeholder. Click the delete icon to delete your profile image.
If this is your first time uploading a profile picture, Discord will ask for two permissions: access to your camera and to your photos and videos. Tap "Allow" or "While using app" on at least one of these options to continue.
Choose an imaging application.
Select the image and click Upload . You can crop and zoom if desired, but you must do this before selecting the Upload button (a Crop button will appear after selecting the image).
When you're satisfied with the cropped image, click the checkmark in the upper right corner and press "Save" to save your changes.
You cannot change your Discord avatar if you have made the change within the past few minutes. You must wait about five minutes before changing again.
To choose animated avatars in Discord, you have to pay for Discord Nitro. You can then select a GIF when uploading your profile picture.
When you add an image to a Discord chat window, select the eyes to hide the image and display a spoiler warning. In the mobile app, press and hold on the image, then tap on the eye .
To download someone else's Discord profile image, you must use a third-party tool or use the inspect element to copy the image.
