Apple's latest flagship brings significant upgrades without increasing the price.
Apple just launched the iPhone 15 Pro at its "Wonderlust" event in California, and it comes with a slew of upgraded features.
A new grade 5 titanium design makes iPhone 15 Pro the lightest iPhone yet. Apple claims it's also its most durable phone yet, thanks to a special PVD coating. As before, Apple will offer a 6.1-inch Pro model and a 6.7-inch "Max" model. The company also redesigned the iPhone Pro's internal design to make it easier to repair and make more use of recycled materials. The new "Action Button" replaces the old ringtone switch on the iPhone 14 Pro. Users can program buttons to complete custom tasks. For example, you can configure a button to start recording a voice memo. It can also turn on your phone’s flashlight, open the camera app, and more. Apple also introduced a new standby display mode that activates when the phone is placed in landscape orientation on the wireless charger.
Internally, the iPhone 15 Pro is powered by Apple’s new 3nm A17 Pro chipset. According to the company, the new chip's two high-performance cores are 10% faster than the previous generation chip. Additionally, the built-in neural engine is twice as fast. As for the A17 Pro's GPU, not only is it faster, but it also supports hardware-based ray tracing, a feature that will allow game studios to add more realistic lighting to the games they release.
Like the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Pro also comes with USB-C connectivity, but the A17 Pro has a dedicated USB controller that enables 10Gbps data transfer. Of course, Apple is also fully committed to updating the camera array of the iPhone 15 Pro. It includes an updated 48-megapixel main camera, which Apple claims is better suited for taking low-light photos and less susceptible to lens flare (sorry, J.J. Abrams). Additionally, the camera allows the user to change the focal length. You can take photos using 24mm, 28mm and 35mm focal lengths. The included telephoto camera also offers up to 5x optical zoom and a 120mm focal length.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are available for pre-order starting September 15th. The former starts at $999 for the 128GB model, and the latter starts at $1,119. Shipping starts on September 22nd.
Separately, Apple announced that iOS 17, the next version of its mobile operating system, will be released as a free update on Monday, September 18. The company has been publicly testing the new software since it first previewed iOS 17 on its website in June. The annual WWDC conference. The update will bring a slew of new features, including a redesigned call screen that users can customize to their liking and a check-in feature that will alert trusted contacts when you've arrived safely at your destination. ).
