What is the taste of youth? For Christian Dior, the answer begins with jasmine. The designer designed the first Miss Dior perfume in 1947 specifically for young people at the time. Inspired by his rebellious sister, Catherine Dior, the chypre combines green top notes with florals like jasmine and orange blossom and base notes of patchouli and amber. Since then, Miss Dior has gone through many iterations, each slightly different but all embodying the carefree feeling of youthful independence.
Now, more than forty years after the launch of the first Miss Dior, legendary perfumer Francis Kurkdjian (yes, the man behind the world-famous Baccarat Rouge 540) has put his own spin on the brand's legendary fragrance middle. The new Miss Dior fragrance takes the elements of the original Miss Dior – jasmine, lushness, a hint of gourmand – and adds juicy notes of strawberry, peach and apricot, making it the perfect spring (and summer) choice for strawberry girls. ).
When Francis Kurkdjian was appointed by Dior as the brand's creative director of fragrance in 2021, the first thing he did was search the archives and talk to as many of the house's former perfumers as possible. He wanted to understand their craftsmanship, use of raw materials and inspiration so that he could truly understand the brand's history and continue to tell its fragrance story in its entirety. If you're familiar with previous versions of Miss Dior, you might recognize certain elements—the brand's now-discontinued Miss Dior Cherie fragrance also contained strawberry notes—but the new fragrance also feels completely fresh (not to be confused with The original perfume is confused with) Miss Dior Eau de Parfum, a warmer and more traditional floral).
Miss Dior opens with bright citrus notes, then melts into the skin with soft notes of jasmine and amber. But this is no ordinary jasmine: Kurkdjian wanted to bring back the rich jasmine feel of the original Miss Dior, so the jasmine in the new fragrance is only picked in July, when the flowers are at their greatest release. Green and floral. The result is a jasmine scent that feels fruity and juicy - if you can smell the pink, that's what it smells like.
Staying young forever is currently impossible (just look at the plethora of anti-aging serums lining Sephora's shelves), but Miss Dior's fragrance seals in the feeling of youthfulness. No needles, fillers or invasive treatments required - just a hint of jasmine and strawberry scent.
