Honestly, I want to dress like Carrie Bradshaw every day - okay, so maybe skip some of her weird outfits (i.e. brown beret paired with navy hot shorts) — but I’m talking about her unwavering confidence. There's no better time than now to don a Carrie Bradshaw Halloween costume because it's fashion's favorite holiday. With these ideas and plenty of confidence, get ready to be the best at the party. Oh, and don't forget your Cosmopolitan .
Let’s take a look at some of her most iconic outfits, shall we? So, maybe I don't always agree with her outfits and accessories (remember that polka dot belt around her bare waist?), but I have a crush on Patricia Field in Sex and the City ), a costume designer whom I trust a lot because she shaped the image of New York women. A love for unique pieces and the way she wears them with unabashed confidence.
We may not always like what Carrie wears, but we definitely respect it. This legendary fashion show introduced me to some of the most important and influential fashion designers, such as Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Fendi, Dior... I could go on. Remember when she made Aidan swear to Chanel? By the way, this has become my new litmus test for whether or not I trust someone.
Here's the complete Carrie Bradshaw Halloween costume set.
1. Tutu
First, let’s talk about tutus. Yes, a tutu. Perhaps the most iconic look from the series and even the movie, the tutu holds a special place in many of our hearts. Who doesn’t want to wander the streets of New York City with curls bouncing, getting splashed by a bus, and having their face pressed against the side of a bus? This is exactly what I dreamed of when I first moved here.
White tulle high-waisted skirt, $17.98, cichic.com
So how exactly do you get this look? simple! Head to any dance store and pick out the tiered tulle skirt of your dreams, or shop the (cute) tulle skirt above. Tie a ribbon around your waist and throw on a pink tank top (don't pick up a bra, of course, and if you want to take it a step further, pick up a pair of Samantha's fake nipples). Oh, don't, I repeat, don't forget the hairspray.
2. Naked skirt
"I wouldn't be the first one to say it. If he never calls me again, I'll always fondly think he's a jerk." Carrie famously said this after sleeping with Big after their first date If anything, she blamed it on "naked skirts." This is actually the same outfit she wore in the bus commercial.
Alternative rayon Challis slip dress, $42, zappos.com
This is a dress you can wear again and again.
3. Iconic fur
Carrie Bradshaw loves her fur—and why wouldn't she? Have you spent the winter in New York City? It looks like she has so much use for her fur that she even wore it to the movies! Whether she's strutting her shopping on Fifth Avenue, sitting on her iconic porch like the one pictured above, or rushing to meet Miranda just before midnight on New Year's Eve, this piece always makes her look chic . But can we make a request? Faux fur, please!

Throw on a slip dress underneath, or a sequined hat, and voila, call yourself Carrie Bradshaw.
4. Dust off clothes
I will never, ever, ever forget this moment. "Oh my God, she's a fashion killer!" Stanford exclaimed as Carrie tripped over her green heels and Heidi Klum stepped over her. It still hurts me when I watch it now, and I've watched it many times. But, in true CB fashion, she immediately got up, strutted her stuff, and gave Heidi Klum a high five. It's truly an inspiring girl moment, and, she sure looks great in those bejeweled panties. But even more gorgeous was the emerald blue coat.
Missguided Sleeveless Belted Waterfall Duster Coat, $50, missguidedus.com
Pair it with statement briefs and you're all set. For a low-key look, high-waisted shorts and a crop top will do. Don’t forget the heels, though!
5. A fine suit
By now, we know Carrie won't shy away from anything—including pinstripes. What better way to dress for Vogue than with a nice suit? I love the unexpected details on this skirt suit. Asymmetrical collars, brooches...everything.
ENGLISH FACTORY Pinstripe mini dress, $88, shopbop.com
Think about how many interviews and workdays you could actually wear this pinstripe dress to? Add in martinis, slutty editors, and urban shoe myth Manolo Blahnik Campari Mary Janes, and you're screaming Carrie Bradshaw.
6. A group of girlfriends
Last but not least, if you want to dress like Carrie Bradshaw, you need your girls with you. Perhaps what makes the show so iconic is the bond these women form—through illness, death, breakups, cheating, cancer, and financial troubles, they always have each other’s back.
Gather your friends and dress up as a crew—and don’t forget Stanford!
