If you're looking to end your year with a great deal on a trip somewhere amazing, here's some really good news: JetBlue is having a big two-day sale with fares as low as $44 . This means that, technically, you can get a ticket for under $50. Considering JetBlue has one of the most generous legrooms in economy class in the U.S. (an average of 32 to 33 inches, according to the airline's website), it's not a bad deal overall.
Of course, as with any major airline sale like this, there are some limitations to be aware of. You may need to adjust your original travel plans or depart on a less favorable travel day (ie: mid-week) in order to make the airfare deal work in your favor. But in the end, if you save a few hundred dollars, that's ok.
The two-day online sale is now open and runs until Tuesday 8 October. You can snap up domestic and international flights anytime from mid-October to the end of January 2020. November 20 to December 3 and December 17 to January 8. This means you won't be able to take advantage of the holiday travel discount unless you travel outside of these dates. Most flights are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which is not surprising considering how expensive it is to fly on the weekends. But there are benefits to traveling during these days of the week: Not only is travel cheaper, but airports are less crowded.
This promotion does not apply to every JetBlue flight from every airport. While there are dozens of cheaper flights available, most depart from Boston, Massachusetts; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Long Beach, California; New York, New York; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Still, there are flights to and from many other cities, including (but not limited to) Atlanta, Georgia; Newark, New Jersey; and Washington, D.C.
Some of the cheapest flights include: Atlanta, GA to Orlando, FL for $44; Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale for $49; Boston, MA to Pittsburgh, PA for $49; Long Beach, CA to San Francisco, CA $44; flying from San Juan, Puerto Rico to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, for $59. The most expensive flights are from New York, NY to Cancun, Mexico at $195; from Seattle, WA to New York at $189; and from Los Angeles, CA to New York at $189.
Note that these are one-way ticket prices, so if you buy the $44 deal, you'll pay $88 round trip (not including tax). Even so, it's still a big deal.
This promotion may also help you save on hotel bills. Some fares offer combo ticket options, including the purchase of round-trip tickets and discounted hotel fares. Some of the best deals include round-trip airfare and three nights' hotel accommodation from Long Beach to Las Vegas, Nevada for $125 per person; round-trip airfare and three-night hotel accommodation from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman $479 per person; $535 for round-trip airfare and three nights' hotel accommodation from New York to Aruba.
As always, if you decide to purchase these tickets, keep the following in mind: they are non-refundable and non-transferable, so canceling isn't really an option (unless you want to lose money). These also apply to basic economy tickets, which means they don't include checked baggage in the price.
So, holidays, anyone?
