Taco Bell announces Crunchwrap, Tostada made with Cheez-It

Latest news: Taco Bell is testing two new menu items featuring giant Cheez-It cookies to inspire nostalgia (and cheddar). In this case, "huge" means 16 times larger than the standard cookie you might remember from elementary school snack time. Until now, the iconic baked snack has either replaced the crispy tortilla in a Tostada or been stuffed into a Crunchwrap Supreme.

Until July 4th , at a Taco Bell store in Irvine, California, these two "potential" menu items will be available to guests looking for a culinary experience just as inspiring as the successful launch of Doritos Locos Tacos in 2012. Fun fact: In less than a year after the fast-food chain launched, taco sales topped $350 million — and this collaboration with Cheez-It could be another chapter in the Dorito era. Fingers crossed.

On June 28, Taco Bell’s official Twitter posted a visual of the aforementioned large Cheeze-It tostada:

The Big Cheez-It Tostada consists of typical tostada ingredients such as ground beef, shredded cheese, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. The only difference (and it's a big one) is the Cheez-It base instead of crunchy tortillas. At $2.49, it looks like a late-night snack that won't break the bank while still delivering cheddar flavor.

The second menu item being tested is the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme. Think the classic Crunchwrap Supreme with soft corn tortillas, ground beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream—just with a giant Cheez-It in place of the tostada shell that usually sits in the middle of the burrito . Priced at $4.29, this item is both lunch and experience.

While these menu options have just begun the experimental phase in one lucky location, we hope they pass the test with flying colors and make their way to the official menu soon.
