During quarantine, you've probably cooked everything you can, baked everything you can, and scoured the internet for every new recipe you could find. Well, don’t put down your pots and pans just yet. Disney just debuted a cheddar cheese soup recipe on its Disney Parks blog, which means you can make the warm and cheesy appetizer at home.
Disney's Cheddar Cheese Soup recipe comes from Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot. Le Cellier Steakhouse is one of Epcot's fine dining restaurants, famous for its filet mignon, duck dumplings and, of course, cheddar cheese soup. While recipes for these dishes (and more) have been previously published in Disney cookbooks, May 3 marks the first time Disney has released a cheddar cheese recipe online, according to the Disney Parks Blog. It's one of the company's most famous dishes, and now you can bring its taste to your table.
Cheddar cheese soup recipe calls for 14 ingredients: bacon, red onion, celery ribs, butter, all-purpose flour, chicken broth, milk, white cheddar cheese, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, scallions (or chives), Warm Canadian Gold Ale, and season with salt and pepper.
The recipe doesn't require anything complicated beyond a little sauteing, boiling, and stirring. Just make sure you have a blender, immersion blender, and 5-quart Dutch oven so you can follow the recipe on the Disney Parks Blog exactly.
Although all Disney parks are closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, Disney has been helping guests find things to do at home to keep them busy and bring the magic of Disney to them. In addition to cheddar cheese soup, Disney has recently released recipes for other famous theme park dishes, including plant-based cookie chips, a Dole Whip recipe, a churro recipe, a grilled three-cheese sandwich, and Walt Disney's own favorite chili .
While you may not be able to experience the thrill of meeting Mickey and Minnie, riding a themed roller coaster, or watching a late-night fireworks show right now, you don't have to wait to enjoy one of Disney's most popular dishes. Even if the parks eventually open again, you don't have to wait to reserve a ticket to get your hands on one of your favorite Disney dishes. All you need is a few ingredients, your kitchen, and a little help from Disney magic.
