Nicki Minaj dances as Tiffany Haddish performs Fifth Harmony at the VMAs

Monday night's MTV Video Music Awards ended on a somewhat combative note. While presenting the award for Best Hip-Hop Video alongside Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish appeared to take a swipe at the recently completely disbanded girl group Fifth Harmony, while praising the nominee and Former member Camila Cabello. Well, the winner didn't do that. Nicki Minaj defended Fifth Harmony, and one member in particular, during her acceptance speech. Fans are also very grateful.

Hart and Haddish attended the Aug. 20 ceremony to promote their upcoming film Night School and, of course, joked and laughed at people left and right. The latter may have mispronounced Cabello's name ("Y'all know I can't pronounce that well!" Haddish argued.), but she still gave a shout-out to the singer's multiple VMA nominations. "She got five VMA nominations tonight, five of them," the comedian said. "I'm so proud of her, so those of you watching at home, hi, Fifth Harmony!" Hart exclaimed, "Oh, God," at that moment.

The joke, of course, is that Cabello left the band in 2016 and decided to go solo. Her solo album Camila was released this year and included the hit singles "Havana," "Never Be The Same" and "Real Friends." At this year's VMAs, she received nominations for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Performance, and Best Choreography, which is significant for a new solo artist.

Fifth Harmony announced their hiatus in March, and fans were hoping it wouldn't be permanent. "Looking back at the past six years since X-Factor formed, we realize how far we have come and we are more grateful than ever for everything," the band's statement read. "We have truly had an unforgettable experience together. journey and can’t begin to express how grateful we are to you for taking this wild journey with us! After six years of non-stop work, we also realize that in order to stay true to ourselves and to you, we It’s definitely time to take some time off from Fifth Harmony to pursue personal endeavors.”

So while Haddish teased Cabello for attending the event (and being nominated for multiple awards) while her former bandmates didn't, Minaj didn't seem to appreciate the female-on-female crime of it all . Minaj, who won best hip-hop video for her single "Chun-Li," gave a shout-out to "Kevin and Tiff" before defending the dormant girl group.

"Tiff, don't come to Fifth Harmony," Mina said. "Because Normani is the bastard."

She was, of course, referring to the Fifth Harmony member, who echoed Minaj's recent call for collaborations with female artists. Cabello's former bandmate also appeared on Queen Radio with Minaj, so it looks like the two may be planning something big.

Minaj didn't seem too upset when she defended the other ladies, but fans are still living for it. Here’s what Twitter had to say:

Fifth Harmony may not be active right now, but Minaj's message is clear: Even with their success as solo artists, they still deserve respect.
