There are spoilers for the finale of Daisy Jones and the Six . While fans may wish Daisy Jones and the Six were a real band, the band is indeed a work of fiction - and like every great story, the band is coming to an end. The finale of Prime Video's adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reed's 2019 novel debuts on March 24, providing a touching conclusion to the story of Daisy, Billy, Camilla and company. But is this really the end, or could there be a Daisy Jones and the Six season 2?
If you've read the book "Daisy Jones and the Six," you know that it ends (roughly) the way the show ends: the band breaks up in 1979, and Billy makes a dent in his family promise. Years later, as one of her last wishes, an ailing Camilla told her daughters to reunite Billy and Daisy. "Tell your father that I at least said that the two of them owe me a song," she wrote in a letter. This is actually the last page of the book (apart from Reed's final published lyrics), so there's no explicit indication that Billy and Daisy followed that instruction.
Of course, in the show, this is even clearer: Billy walks right up to Daisy's doorstep, where he's warmly received by his former bandmates. "The book may not answer some of the questions that I think we have to answer," series co-creator Scott Neustadt told The Hollywood Reporter .
So, from a television perspective, there are no more resources available for a second season. Prime Video describes the show as a limited series. However, as Daisy Jones made its way from book to screen, an interesting twist occurred - one that might give hope to those hungry for another installment.
On the page, Camilla's last plea to Billy and Daisy occurred in 2012, more than 30 years after the band broke up. On screen, however, this request occurred 20 years after the climax of the Chicago concert. "One obvious change is that Taylor is writing about 70-year-old people looking back on their lives in their 20s," Neustadt told Entertainment Weekly . "We wanted to speed up the story a little bit."
It's not a huge change, but the shift in framing does speed up the timeline for Billy and Daisy to reconnect - potentially making more room for the second half of their relationship if Prime Video wants to explore it. "If this was something people wanted, there might be more stories to tell," Neustadt told Town & Country. "But time will tell whether people are interested in something like this."
