Taylor Swift may hint at breakup by changing playlist

Taylor Swift is used to the Taylor Swift dating days, so when reports emerged on April 8 that the singer had split up with her longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn a few weeks earlier, Joe Alwyn) people were shocked when they broke up. Although a source told ET Fans are still shocked that their relationship has "come to an end" and the split is "not dramatic". With Swift and Alwyn remaining tight-lipped about their relationship, the search for clues as to what exactly happened and when is ongoing.

Swift is known to deliberately drop hints to her fans, so after breakup reports broke, many suddenly began to reexamine her recent behavior. One decision in particular was flagged as a potential clue. Fans noticed that the singer changed her Eras tour setlist about a week before their reported breakup went public, replacing the Folklore song "Invisible String" with "The 1" during her performance. Presumably, Swift would rather sing a song about a past love than one she wrote about Alwyn and their relationship.

Of course, not everyone agrees with this theory. Some fans have noticed that Swift still has a lot of romantic songs about Alwyn on her playlist. Others were also reluctant to believe the couple had split. One naysayer noted the many Alwyn-inspired tracks and tweeted that if reports were true, they didn't believe Swift would perform the Eras show "without shedding a tear."

But if this shift is due to their breakup, Swift can't be blamed for not wanting to sing "Invisible Strings" at the show. The lyrics ponder the possibility of a love story between her and Alvin. "Think about it, there is always an invisible rope tying you and me together, isn't it wonderful?" she sang in it.

"The 1," on the other hand, might be a better fit for Swift post-breakup. First of all, it's not about Alvin, and most importantly, it involves looking back nostalgically to a previous love while moving on. It's a poignant song that includes lyrics like, "If my wish comes true, it'll be you" and "But if you're the one, it'll be fun."

Truth be told, neither was an easy song to sing during a painful breakup, but ET 's source does indicate that their relationship just came to an end in a non-dramatic way. Still, fans will definitely be keeping an eye out for any other changes Swift may make during her time on tour. Of course, the real answer may come when she writes new music.
