Eras Tour Opening: Taylor Swift's 10 Opening Acts

Taylor Swift was always ahead of her time when it came to choosing her opening act. In 2013, she invited collaborator Ed Sheeran, who became a superstar, to open for her on the Red Tour. The same thing happened in 2015 after opening for Shawn Mendes' 1989 World Tour, and Charli XCX's popularity only rose after her 2017 Reputation Stadium tour. So it should come as no surprise to Swift that her opener on the Eras Tour — her first in more than five years — is a who's who of today's most popular artists and future stars.

Rather than kicking off each date with one or two artists, as she has done on past tours, Swift has amassed an army of up-and-coming musicians and Grammy nominees, spreading them out across the tour middle. Paramore, HAIM, Phoebe Bridgers, beabadoobee, MUNA, girl in red, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, OWENN and Sabrina Carpenter will all be opening on various dates on the tour. In fact, if fans wanted to catch a glimpse of them, you'd have to travel to at least six different shows across the country and then all the way to Latin America to see Carpenter perform.

Tickets for an Eras Tour show are hard to come by, so if you're one of the lucky Swifties to get a seat, you need to know who will be performing on your date. This guide to opening acts on Swift's 10-era tour will provide everything you need to know, including each artist's famous songs and their connection to the 12-time Grammy winner.

Swift kicked off the Eras tour with a bang, with platinum-selling band Paramore opening the first two shows. Swift has been good friends with lead singer Hayley Williams for some time, starring in the "Bad Blood" video and taking her on the Speak Now tour to sing "That's What You Get" , and by the time Paramore was released, their friendship would only grow deeper. Also participated in the European leg of the tour.

"It's been an honor to have Paramore tour with me," Swift told Billboard in January. “As teenagers in Nashville we made our music together, so to start touring together nearly two decades later feels very special.”

In May 2022, Swift posted a video on TikTok of herself preparing to deliver a commencement speech at New York University, set to the tune of beabadoobee's dreamy and bittersweet "See You Soon." Swift should consider this song an Easter egg, as the Filipino-British songwriter, a label member of Swift's favorite band The 1975, may perform it during her Eras Tour performance ballad.

"I remember telling an interviewer that my dream supporter was Taylor Swift, and then I got a call from my manager saying she wanted you to go on tour with her," she told The Times in February. "I texted all my girlfriends, 'Guess what...'"

In October 2022, MUNA performed a cover of Swift's folklore fan favorite "august" for Spotify's "Live at Electric Lady" series. Just weeks later, the proudly queer synth-pop band, signed to opening act Bridgers' record label, were announced as one of the opening acts for the Eras tour. It will be Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin and Naomi Macpherson's biggest to date, following Kacey Musgraves' Star-crossed Unveiled tour and Lorde's Solar Powered Tour show.

"When '1989' came out, we were just starting to make music in college," McPherson recalled to Variety . "I remember a friend of mine gave me 'Fearless' on a flash drive, and I was obsessed with 'Fifteen' and my feelings about it."

After working with Swift on her "Red" (Taylor's version) In 2021, Bridgers opened for Swift, took the next step on From the Vault's "Nothing New," and even took a break from her supergroup boygenius during the Eras tour. The two constantly praise each other's work, with Bridgers calling Swift's music "high art" on Charli XCX's radio show "The Best Songs Ever ." “She’s like the king of her craft,” she said. “She is the perfect example of someone who uses every available resource to show complete sincerity.”

Swift has a special fondness for the color red, so she quickly became a fan of Girl in Red, supporting her debut album If I Could Make It on her Instagram Story in May 2021 Go Quiet,” which will also double as a hit for fans of The Girl in Red. Tips About Red (Taylor's Edition) . The emerging artist said Swift even sent her an email that was "the length of a damn book." "I was like, 'I love you so much...you're my everything,'" she told iHeartRadio.

Sisters Swift and HAIM have a long history. The band served as an opening act on several shows on their 1989 world tour, and they have remained close friends ever since, with Swift often joking that she is Haim's fourth sister. Their musical partnership continues to grow, with HAIM providing story inspiration and background vocals for Swift's classic single "No Body, No Crime," and Swift returning the favor with a remix of 2020's "Gasoline." favor. At this point, the Eras Tour is just another fun reunion.

Gayle may not say "abcdefu" directly to Swift, but she'll be singing the song with thousands of people on her Eras tour. After releasing the two-part EP A Study of the Human Experience and earning her first Grammy nomination in 2022, Swift is now giving Gayle a new feat to check off her bucket list.

Technically, she will be the first to perform on the Eras Tour, as she was the first opener on opening night. "This means the world to me," she said on Apple Music 1 on March 10. "I had no idea what I was going to do this year. I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I've had the best year of my life. What am I going to do next year?' She said, 'Here's something to add to your calendar.' .'"

After opening for Olivia Rodrigo on her Sour tour and working with Swift folklore and eternal collaborator Aaron Dessner on her debut album, After Good Riddance , the indie pop star is now expected to play the most shows of any Eras tour opener.

"She was a wonderful person and friend, just like she was an artist, a writer, a director," Abrams told Billboard in February. "She's just that good. It really means a lot to be able to count on her in any capacity. I'm excited to see her crush it every night. Watching her up close and being able to study her in this way has been the greatest gift."

He played the titular lover in Swift's 2019 video for "Lover," and before that, he went on to serve as Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, and Swift, among others Dancers and choreographers. After Swift helped him sign with Republic Records, he thrust his career into the spotlight as the only male opening act on the Eras tour. "I cried like a little baby," he told iHeartRadio of his reaction after learning he would be the opener.

Carpenter is one of pop music's fastest-rising stars, and her fifth album , Emails I Can't Send, took her out of Disney mode and became her highest-charting record. The singer doesn't have much of a public history with Swift other than participating in the Eras tour in Philadelphia, but her reaction to taking part in the Latin American show proved she's always been one of Swift's fans.

Carpenter shared a screenshot of a tweet she wrote after her 2010 Fearless tour on Twitter, along with a Latin American tour poster. "Trying to deal with this but alas I don't want to," she wrote. "Thank you @taylorswift13 for your 1:') This is the worst dream come true."
