Once Taylor Swift's Track 5 enters Swifties' ears, the lyrical and vulnerable songs go straight into their hearts. It makes sense, then, that the 12-time Grammy winner would include Track 5 in her career-defining Eras tour set list. During her March 24 show in Las Vegas and her opening act at last weekend's "ERAzona," Swift performed five of 10 Track 5 songs on a 44-song setlist, including 23 songs. They are: "The Archer," "tolerate it," "Exquisite," "So Good (10 Minute Version)" and "My Tears Are Jumping." As per tradition, fans chanted "1, 2, 3, let's go" in Sin City during "Delicate." When she played the extended "ATW" on her red acoustic guitar, Swift was like a 60,000-person choir singing every word in unison with passion.
Swift previously admitted in her 2020 music documentary Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions that "choosing the fifth track was a forced decision" and credited frequent collaborator Jack Antonin Swift explained the significance of "My Tears Bounce," with Jack Antonoff telling her that the fifth track is "one of the best songs [Swift] has ever written." Previously, she said in 2018 's "Delicate" music video paid homage to the "Track 5" legend, with eagle-eyed viewers noticing the words "Track 5" and "#5 Delicate" graffitied on subway pillars and the steel door behind Swift at two o'clock. Different moments in the video.
Veteran Swiftie Hannah C. (a.k.a. lyric analyst @SippingAugust on Twitter) tells Bustle that each of these Track 5 songs conveys how Swift was really feeling during a pivotal moment in her life.
“I think Track 5 became popular during the red era, when Taylor and the fans started noticing that all of her Track 5s were vulnerable songs — and when we noticed, she noticed, too,” the 35-year-old Hannah C. said. The elderly mother of two attended both opening weekend shows in Arizona. "And then that continued through the rest of her era, and it was something we looked forward to with every album release. Because both Taylor and Swift knew that the fifth song was important, it was one she chose purposefully , we listened to this song particularly carefully.”

Although these songs were rarely the hit singles from her 10 studio albums, Hannah C. noted that track 5 "helps us understand some of the main themes of each album." For example, "All Too Well," often considered Swift's best song by critics and fans alike, perfectly painted a picture of young heartbreak on her 2012 breakup album Red . "Archer" explored love in the context of fear and anxiety in 2019's "Letter to Love" album "Lover ".
