Rihanna reveals how she hopes to expand her family

Rihanna has been too busy having kids (and running a multi-billion dollar business) to release a new album — and she may be welcoming more kids. In a new cover story for Interview magazine , the singer and entrepreneur says she's open to expanding her family and reveals she hopes to have a daughter one day.

During the interview, Rihanna was asked how many children she wanted. “How much God wants me to have,” she said. "I don't know what God wants, but I'll fight for more than two. I'll fight for my daughter. But of course, if it's another boy, it's another boy."

Rihanna has two sons with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The couple welcomed their first child, RZA, in May 2022. She revealed her second pregnancy while hosting the Super Bowl halftime show in February 2023, and gave birth to Riot in August.

During the interview, she talked about motherhood, revealing that the first word RZA said was "hey" instead of the usual mom or dad. "I used to always try to get his attention, I'd say, 'Hey, hey, hey,'" she recalled. "One day he said this to me with the same melody, and I kept singing it and he sang it over and over again."

The fashion icon also revealed her kids' epic wardrobes. "I've got hangers, I've got bags," she said. "They're all very organized in size and organization, and then anything that's too small for RZA, I put in the bin so Riot can handle them next. In fact, all of RZA's 1 year old clothing already has it Riot element. He was only six months old and everyone thought Rocky dressed them because I dressed them in Rocky clothes."

Rihanna has been open about wanting to be a mother, telling British Vogue in March 2020 that she wanted "three or four" children no matter who she ended up with. When asked about her life now and reflecting on the empire she's built, which includes Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Puma partnerships, and Savage x Fenty (and music), she reiterated her desire to be interviewed .

"I wouldn't have any idea," she said. "The only thing I knew I wanted, or could imagine, was motherhood. I had no idea how it was going to happen, but it's been the best part of my journey so far. Everything else has been amazing."
