Max’s April highlights are primarily in the documentary genre. First up is the limited series "The Synanon Fix" (April 1, weekly episodes), which delves into the phenomenon of a rehab program turned cult; followed by "Brandy Hellville & The Cult of Fast Fashion" (April 9 ), an HBO original film exploring the cult following of fast fashion brand Brandy Melville.
Later this month , The American Bomber: The Road to April 19 (April 16) looks at the background to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, six episodes into the Emmy Award-winning series The sequel , The Jinx - Part 2 (April 21) explores the life of Robert Durst.
In terms of TV series, the HBO original limited series "The Sympathizer", co-produced with A24, premiered on April 14, with new episodes released every week. Based on Nguyen Viet Thanh's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, the play tells the espionage thriller of a French, half-Vietnamese communist spy at the end of the Vietnam War.
Alex Edelman also debuts a new comedy special ( Just For Us , April 6); Season 4 of the unscripted series We Are Here (new episodes weekly starting April 26) is about change. The story follows drag queens Sasha Velour, Priyanka, Jaida Essence Hall and Latrice Royale as they visit small-town communities across America; and the premiere of the four-part unscripted series Conan O'Brien Must Go (April 18).
Finally, Max has a full schedule of live and on-demand sports this month, including the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four (April 6-8) as well as the NBA, NHL, MLB, US Soccer, MotoGP and professional cycling.
