In the months since announcing their divorce on "The Bachelor," Gerry Turner and Theresa Nest have taken different approaches to their breakup. Teresa has been more vocal, thanking fans for their support, writing about her "source of joy" (gardening!) and even spoofing headlines with a paparazzi-style post of her taking out the trash.
However, Gerry has remained silent on the divorce except for an interview on April 12 announcing the divorce. His daughter Angie has spoken out about the "disheartening... anger and cruelty" her family has received from disappointed fans, while Susan Noles (who hosted The Golden Wedding ) Reported on her Prime Time Podcast that Gerry has been "out" for a while. "I don't blame him," Susan continued. "He probably needed some closure, just some quiet time."
In fact, Gerry seems to have been seeking just that, as his first post-divorce update hinted at spending meaningful time with loved ones.
Have fun at the lake with your family
In a May 9 Instagram post, Gerry shared a series of photos taken from the lake, presumably where his home in Indiana is located. "My favorite time of year at the lake and so is Cody!" Gerry wrote, referring to his dog.
Cody stole the show (like a dog), appearing in every photo in Gerry's gallery post, including several with his dad. “Besides her love for my dad and boating, she had a full-time job keeping geese off the coast,” Gerry continued. "Summer is coming."
While Gerry didn't directly mention his divorce, the nod to summer's impending arrival was a meaningful reminder of the passage of time.
As for Cody, the adorable pup clearly holds a special place in Gerry's life. The first-time Bachelor previously told Bustle that it was important for his future spouse to be a dog lover. "If they just don't like dogs ... I would question whether they are truly human," he said in September. "Because who doesn't like dogs?"
Although Gerry and Teresa didn't work together long-term, they briefly became babyparents together. "Married and with a dog! Lucky me! Cody loves to have his neck scratched, snuggled up on my couch, and sits on my lawn watching the world go by," Theresa wrote on Instagram in January . “We bonded instantly!”
Luckily, Cody seems to have been Gerry's main source of support since his divorce.
Gerry's next move after King's Bachelor
There was another recent update about Gerry's life after divorce. According to the Indianapolis Star, Gerry will attend an "A Night of Love and Roses" with the local baseball team on May 17.
Although it was a date-themed event, Gerry appeared to be attending purely as a VIP, taking part in Q&A and taking photos with fans.
