In the final two episodes of Vanderpump Rules , Scheana Shay went from joy to jealousy over her bestie Ariana Madix's swanky Scandoval reacted to landing a spot on Dancing with the Stars . She even told Lisa Vanderpump that she started taking dance lessons in case producers called her (even though she only had a small part in her co-star's cheating scandal).
"I'm happy for her, but I can be happy for her and sad for myself at the same time," she said in a confessional. "Like, it's good for her, she's come a long way from being my backup dancer." The episode flashes back to Season 1, with Ariana dancing behind Shayna to debut her song "What I Like”.
Bravo fans immediately turned her emotions into memes, asking everyone to consider Scheana's feelings whenever anything happens. The jokes are funny, but Scheana has a point.
Now that Ariana has completed her DWTS mission, finishing in third place, higher than any previous contestant from Bravo, it's time for producers to get on board the Vanderpump Rules train and call out Scheana.
While she reminded viewers that Ariana was once her backup dancer (yes, that's pure shade), it also showed that before she became a full-fledged reality star, she started as a waitress on SUR Been preparing for this moment. Sure, her choreography needs some work, but isn't the point of DWTS to improve your dancing skills?
Slowly but surely, Scheana began to build up her musical resume for future seasons of Pump Rules , putting on stunning performances at SUR Bar. More than a decade later, her songs are now Bravo classics (as evidenced by the $50 "Good As Gold" vinyl I brought to BravoCon), and for fans, seeing Scheana perform a tango or a ridiculous Mamba, it feels like a full circle moment. "Good As Gold" on live television.
If you thought Scheana was being overly dramatic on Pump Rules , imagine how she channeled those emotions into her DWTS routine. If she progresses far into the competition, she has the potential to serve up drama and drama, boosting the camp factor of the dance show.
Even Ariana agrees. In a previous interview with Page Six, she guaranteed that Scheana would be able to compete on DWTS . The resurfaced video might have made Scheana's comments seem mean-spirited by comparison, but in the end, she did emerge as a friend and a regular on the dance floor to support Ariana.
