More than two decades ago, Britney Spears played a flight attendant. No, this didn't appear in her "Toxic" music video.
Spears guest-starred in 2001's Longshot , Going viral on In fact, the entire cast is an early 2000s pop fantasy reality, filled with the era's most beloved artists and throwback groups.
Lou Pearlman, the controversial music manager and later convicted music manager, used "Longshot" as a vehicle for his roster of musicians, which included O-Town, Take 5, Innosense, LFO, C-Note and, of course, *NSYNC. They both made their film debuts alongside Spears - well, if you can call them acting.
What exactly is a long shot ?
The film tells the story of high school student Alex Taylor and his brother Jack, a gigolo who has an affair with the wife of a wealthy businessman. After discovering the infidelity, the husband threatens to kill the brothers unless Jack goes to New York to seduce a wealthy widow and convince her to sell her company.
So, how do these boy and girl groups fit into the mix? Pillman had his artists play random employees, each playing a small role in the plot, so that throughout the film there would be a new celebrity on screen. It’s basically the 2000s movie version of Where’s Waldo? ” , except you don’t have to look hard for a pop star.
Who's taking the long shot ?
Spears plays a flight attendant who awakens a nervous “Mr. Taylor" wakes up from her sleep and orders a shot of tequila. She then offers coffee to the pilot (played by the late country singer Kenny Rogers), who calls her "my lady." (I don't Determine why this is happening.)
For the *NSYNC boys, Lance Bass plays a flight engineer, while JC Chasez and Joey Fatone are pizza chefs, and Chris Kirkpatrick (named after Christopher) plays one of their customers. Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake works as a valet parking attendant.
In addition to cameos, the cast also includes the late actor Gilbert Gottfried, Boy Meets World star Danielle Fisher and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. (Yes, really. He plays a robber.)
Many celebrities have also appeared as themselves, including Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford, Jackson 5 member Jermaine Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel member Art Garfunkel, and wife Kim and son James.
Can I watch "Long Shot"?
"Long Shot" premiered exclusively in German cinemas. According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet , the show airs on the Disney Channel in the United States. (Though given the plot involving gigolos and infidelity, I'm not sure how Disney received the film.) Later released on DVD, and in some cases double-packed with Crossroads , it was an even bigger box office hit success.
As of launch, there's no official platform to play Longshot on, which is probably why it's been forgotten about for so long.
