'Bridgerton' Season 4 Will Be the Show's Surprising First Season

Spoilers ahead for Bridgerton Season 3 . The only bright side to the end of Bridgerton Season 3 is that another love story is on the horizon — even if it takes quite a while to round that corner.

More than two years have passed between the second and third seasons of "Bridgerton." While this provides time for plenty of theories and behind-the-scenes speculation, it'll be a long time before you see your favorite Bridgerton siblings again.

So...when is the specific release date of Bridgerton Season 4? No announcement has been made yet, but showrunner Jesse Brownell recently opened up about the production process and lowered expectations for when the next installment will be released.

Ton's schedule

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the London premiere of Part 2, Brownell explained why Netflix's beloved Regency romance can't be rushed.

"We're trying to get each season out faster, but they do take eight months to shoot, then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into various languages," she said. "Writing also takes a long time, so our schedule is two years. We're trying to speed it up, but within that range."

The prospect of having to wait another two years for Bridgerton Season 4 naturally makes fans nervous. Then again, there's a hopeful warning. Brownell did tell The Hollywood Reporter that next season's story — no matter who it is about — is nearly complete. “Our writers room season and scripts are coming to an end,” she said. “I feel like it’s my best work and the best work from my writers’ room.”

So if Brownell's two-year estimate includes writing, it sounds like the team is already on the way. Maybe early 2026 is a reasonable estimate?

Season 4 will look a little different

Another interesting clue about season 4 comes from Brownell 's interview with the Los Angeles Times. She said the show will be "trying out the idea of fall for the first time."

Brownell went on to say that this will be for practical purposes (since the show shoots in the fall), but also to do with the story itself. "It will still be lush and colorful, but more of those warm fall colors rather than pastels," she said. “There will still be some pastels so it won’t look like a completely different show.”

While it's a tantalizing hint—the promise of cozy Regency time is fitting—neither Brownell nor the actors answer the most important question. That said, who will lead Bridgerton Season 4?

"We just want to keep you guessing," Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict, recently told Bustle. "There's a constant dialogue between the book and the show, and that's what's fun about watching it. You don't quite know what's going to happen."
