Selena Gomez is opening up about her love life with Benny Blanco. The singer got candid about their relationship during a Feb. 22 appearance on Apple Music 1's New Music Daily . Gomez told host Zane Lowe that dating the record producer was "a real pleasure."
"Without going into too many details, I think it's important to meet someone who respects you," she began. "I think it's really nice to lean on someone who understands the world that I live in. I have to say, overall, it's the safest I feel and it's really lovely and I just grew up in it so it marvelous".
In December 2023, Gomez went public with her relationship with Blanco — which had been going on for six months — after confirming rumors on Instagram that she and Blanco were dating. "He is absolutely everything in my heart," she wrote.
Before dating, Gomez and Blanco collaborated on the 2019 song "I Can't Get Enough." In a recent interview with Apple Music 1, the Wizards of Waverly Place star admitted that she prefers to work with people she knows.
Gomez clarified that she found it "really fun" to work with new people, continuing, "It's also important that I stay with my core team because they're the ones who can best crack the code with me. They were the ones who really helped me explain what I wanted to say.”
Gomez and Blanco's first Valentine's Day
Gomez's new interview comes shortly after she and Blanco celebrated their first Valentine's Day together, in which she promoted her new single "Love On." "I love you," the singer captioned a selfie of the couple on Instagram.
The two don't shy away from sharing their love lives online, and Gomez has responded to fans' negative comments about their relationship.
"So why is he the best thing that's ever happened to me? It's over," she replied to a fan. In another reply, she said: "He's still better than anyone I've ever met. Fact."
