Even the most investigative Swift hasn't quite figured out how Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's love story began, but now, he's providing some answers. In a new cover story for The Wall Street Journal Magazine , the NFL player recounted how he met the singer and revealed that he had matchmakers working for him without his knowledge.
According to the author, "I don't know if I want to be a part of all of this," he said before launching into the discussion.
As he mentioned before, when Swift was in Kansas City for her Eras tour in July, Kelce tried to meet her and give her a friendship bracelet, but he was apparently stopped by security. As he told the story on his podcast, some of Swift's team and friends were listening.
"People she knew definitely knew who I was, and in her corner [they said], 'Yo! Did you know he was coming?'" he said. "I've got someone to play Cupid." However, he didn't know that until a few weeks later, when he received a surprising message from Swift.
"She told me exactly what was going on and how lucky I was to have her reach out," he recalled.
Some unexpected people in Kelce's corner happen to be close to Swift. "She'll probably hate me for saying that," he warned. "When she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room to use as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures in front of my dressing room."
their first date
Kelce drew a line at detailing his first date with Swift, but said he wasn't nervous about it. "When I met her in New York, we were already talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and have a conversation and the rest would go from there," he said.
However, his team and close friends were very nervous, Kelce recalled, "Everyone around me was telling me, 'Don't screw this up!'" I'm sitting here saying, 'Yeah, got it.' '" Needless to say, he did the right thing.
The future of Swift and Kells
Now that the two are reportedly getting serious, Kelce said he's become more wary of the media, which is a new feeling for him. "That's the most important thing to me: making sure I don't say anything that would push Taylor away," he noted.
However, that hasn't stopped him from gushing about Swift, calling her "hilarious" and a "genius" and noting how his opinion of her music has shifted now that he's more focused on her songwriting Not the beat behind it.
"I've never been a talkative person," he said. "It's so exciting to be around her and see how smart Taylor is. I'm learning every day." Even the song he's most looking forward to hearing on the Eras tour is one of her lyrical masterpieces.
“‘Blank Space’ is definitely one I want to hear live,” he said. “‘I can make a bad guy good over the weekend.’ That’s a great line!”
He wasn't the only one to praise Swift. His mother, Donna Kelce, tried to keep quiet about their relationship during an interview in October, but she approved of it. "He's happier than I've seen him in a long time," she told the outlet. "God bless him, he shot for the stars!"
