Choking will make you want to book a holiday to Ireland ASAP

Alibi's investigative thriller "Choke" centers on the deep-seated secrets among members of the Ahern family, many of which begin to surface in the wake of tragedy. The story takes place on the rugged west coast of Ireland. But where was Choke actually filmed?

The series began filming in February 2020 in the coastal town of Lahinch. Other filming locations for Smother include Liscannor, Spanish Point, Fanore, Ennistymon and Lisdoonvarna, the Clare Echo reports.

Commenting on the show's filming location, actress Dervla Kirwan, who plays matriarch Val Ahern on the show, explained why she thought Smothers would "be a great addition to the area." The tourism industry has cast a shadow." “The Aherns live in a very nice house, usually a small hotel (Moy House), and they get a lot of booking calls.”

Cowan continued: "A bigger collection means it will seep into the public consciousness and people will want to visit. It means a lot to County Clare and Ireland as a whole."

According to Telly Mix , the Irish drama centers on the complex Ahern family, whose patriarch, husband and father Denis, is found dead at the bottom of a cliff after a party at their home. While trying to figure out who might be responsible for Dennis' tragic death, his wife Val (Kirwan) begins to explore his relationship with his children and stepchildren. In the process, secrets that could tear the entire family apart begin to surface.

Kirwan joins Ca n't Cope Won't Cope star Seána Kerslake as Grace Ahern, English Game star Niamh Walsh as Jenny Ahern, The Tudors' Gemma-Leah Devereux as Anna Ahern, and The Fall star Stuart Graham starred in "Smother" together. Starring Denis Ahern as Dennis Ahern, Borgen's Thomas Levine as Carl Janssen, and Fair City star James O'Donoghue as Callum Dwyer.
