Eva Longoria just took a stroll down memory lane (or wisteria) to address rumors of a feud between the cast of Desperate Housewives that made headlines during the show's initial run.
Longoria stars as Gabrielle Solis in the hit series, alongside co-stars Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross.
Appearing on the Nov. 27 episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, Longoria denied reports of casting issues during the filming of Desperate Housewives , which aired from 2004 to 2012 Eight seasons.
"They all have a better grasp of fame, of narrative," Longoria explains. "I'm like, '[People] say we're fighting.' And they're like, 'Well, that's just their narrative about women because we're in our 40s on the TV show.' And I'm like, 'Yeah.' "I'm not even that smart to understand that."
Longoria went on to say she had forgotten about the rumors, adding: "People ask me this question all the time. 'Are you really fighting?' "Oh my gosh, I forgot that was a thing. This is a thing. This is a big deal."
no time to fight
Speaking on the Armchair Expert Podcast, Longoria also recalled rumors of a feud when she spoofed Desperate Housewives on "Saturday Night Live ."
"I remember when I was hosting 'Saturday Night Live,' we did a spoof on Tina Fey, and she said, 'Let's do a spoof of you guys fighting,'" Longoria recalled. "I was like, 'Okay, that would be fun.' That's one thing, because if it's on 'Saturday Night Live,' then you know you're in pop culture. You're already there .”
Meanwhile, the actor went on to explain that due to his busy filming schedule, "anything that happens outside of the show" is rarely mentioned on set.
"I remember the noise was outside of us. We were in such a bubble with our crew and each other," Longoria continued. "All this stuff... it didn't penetrate because we were working and I was exhausted. We were working 18-hour days and taking pictures on the weekends."
Eva hints at casting impact
Although Longoria recently denied the feud, she previously gave a different answer when asked about the relationship between the "Desperate Housewives" cast members.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Back in 2018, Longoria was asked if she was friends with "all" of her former costars, to which she responded: "No, we're very, very good friends."
Host Jimmy Kimmel then pressed, "All of you?" prompting Longoria to admit, "No! But that's 99 percent of us."
