Glen Powell 'messed up' in audition for big movie series

Glen Powell's resume looks almost completely different. In a new interview with GQ , the "Twister" star looked back on some of his failed auditions, revealing that he missed out on a major role in the "Star Wars" prequel "Solo: A Star Wars Story."

"I can joke now," the actor said of his audition for the film's lead role. "But I ended up failing the audition." Alden Ehrenreich ended up starring in 2018's "Solo ," which told the origin story of Han Solo and Chewbacca and also starred Woody Harrison, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, among others.

This wasn't the only audition he failed. He also didn't star in Marvel's "Captain America" or 2011's "Cowboys & Aliens." "When you ruin those moments, it's unforgettable," he told the magazine, adding that despite the setbacks, he remained optimistic.

"That's one of the unreal parts of [Hollywood mythology]. It's always someone else's journey that goes on," he said. "It's never your thing to carry on. If you put in the time, you'll get a ride."

Powell says no to another franchise

While the actor lost out on some major roles, he also turned down one. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter , he said he decided not to join a new Jurassic World sequel after reading the film's script.

“It’s one of the things I’ve wanted to do my whole life,” he said of the series. "I didn't do that movie because I read the script and I immediately thought, my presence in this movie is not going to help."

As for future big screen roles, Powell told GQ he's not too keen on playing a superhero, but would have "a crazy vision" for Batman if given the chance. "It's definitely not going to be like a Matt Reeves tone — it's probably closer to [Michael] Keaton," he said.
