At 2 a.m. on April 19, Swift revealed that her new album "The Tortured Poets Department" is actually a "secret double album" titled "The Anthology ," confirming Swift's long-held theory . Part Two adds 15 tracks to the Tortured Poets classic, including "So High School," a '90s alt-rock-tinged anthem to a new romance that will take you back to your youth years.
In the new song, Swift sings about being smitten with a new love overnight and laments that she feels like she's back in high school. The catchy post-chorus contrasts Swift's poet persona with her husband's sports and video game prowess. “Truth, Dare, Spin the Bottle/You know how to play, I know Aristotle,” she shouts. “Brand new, all out/Touch me while your brother plays Grand Theft Auto.”
Travis Kelce Connection
It didn't take long for Swift to connect the song to Swift's current boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as many of her early songs referenced high school themes like football and cheerleading. Now she's dating a football player, and just like she dreamed of in the "You Belong to Me" video, she's living out that girl's romantic fantasy.
Not only are there some sports references — like “The Alchemy,” the penultimate song on the main album — but she also recalls the first time Kelce mentioned her name. Some fans believe the "Kiss, marry, kill" lyrics may have been a wink at Kelce playing the game during a 2016 interview with Swift, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande It's all one of his choices.
"Damn, things are messed up," he said. "Ariana, I'm sorry, I love you, but you're gone. And then Taylor Swift is the kiss. What's the last one? Katy Perry? Yes, Katy Perry is going to be the bride. "
