Dylan Sprouse Defends His Top Life Mom Kim Rhodes' 'Fat Joke'

Dylan and Cole Sprouse always have their mom's back on Top Life — even when their characters are a total pain in the ass for her. In the latest episode of the Back to the Best podcast, The Life of Chuck & Cody star Kim Rhodes revealed that her on-screen son Dylan Sprouse defended her against what was written in the script "Stupid Joke" Impact.

During one of the three seasons of the Disney Channel series, Rhodes became pregnant in real life. "Of course, the show addresses that by making some hilarious jokes," she said. However, she noted how the twins "have been protective of [her] throughout the show," especially during her pregnancy.

How Dylan defended his 'mom'

Rhodes recalled an instance when Dylan refused to tell a crude joke during rehearsal. "One of my favorite memories is that Dylan had a line that was a joke, but he kept skipping it," she recalled. "It was in the middle of a conversation, so he kept skipping this laugh, skipping it, skipping it."

When they taped the episode in front of a studio audience, he didn't say the words again. "The executive producer screamed, 'Stop! Dylan says the lines,'" she recalled, noting that it's usually the director's job to switch cameras.

"He said, 'I would never disrespect any woman like that, let alone this woman. You write something funny and I'll say it."

Rhodes had only one reaction to his admirable act. "That's my little man," she quipped, nodding to her on-screen sons, as she calls them. "They're all my little men."

While Rhodes is close to the Sprouse twins on set, she told fans on Instagram Live in 2021 that she doesn't check in with them that often, just like you might not talk to your favorite school teacher every day .

"If I saw them, I wouldn't hesitate to break them up, pick them up and burst into tears because I'm so proud of both of them," she said. "But no, we don't have daily contact. But I love them deeply and they will always, always, always be in my heart."

Still, Rhodes always finds a way to greet the twins on important occasions, like when the Italian dinner Zach and Cody reserved 15 years in advance finally arrived on November 16, 2023. Instagram. "You still make me proud. Have a nice dinner."
