Emily Blunt just dashed hopes of a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada .
The actor, who played Runway 's Emily Charlton in the 2006 film, recently discussed the possibility of a sequel on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, revealing that there was "never" a chance of filming " Wear " Prada's Queen 2" plan.
"Sometimes, in this bubble, things should be cherished and preserved, and that's okay," Blunt said, adding that her cast members "are all fine" and there are no sequels.
Back in 2012, Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada co-star Meryl Streep told Access Hollywood that she "would do" a follow-up, joking that she “Got to lose the fucking weight first.”
Speaking about Streep's interview, Blunt continued on the Happy Sad Confused podcast: "They asked her, 'Will she do a sequel?' And she said, 'Yeah, if I don't have to lose weight. "But I think she said 'damn weight.'"
The Devil Wears Prada is adapted from Lauren Weisberg's 2003 novel and follows aspiring journalist Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) who becomes the murderous editor-in-chief of Runway magazine Milan The story of Da Priestley's (Streep) assistant.
"The Devil Wears Prada 2" is "tempting"
While Blunt doesn't think a sequel will be made at this time, she has previously been open to the idea.
"If everyone did it, I would support it," she told People magazine in 2018. "I almost hope it doesn't [happen] because I think sometimes when you do a sequel, everything dilutes what was so special about the original."
Blunt once again commented on the prospect of filming a second film in November 2022, revealing on The View that she would "make a sequel right away just to play with those guys again. It's so much fun."
Meanwhile, Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada co-star Hathaway has previously said a sequel would be "tempting" but doesn't think it will be greenlit.
"It's tempting that Andy and Emily need to get Miranda coffee and she's somewhere in Europe," Hathaway said on "The View" in 2022. "And then they Picked up Stanley Tucci at a restaurant in Italy along the way." It was tempting, but I didn't think it was going to happen. "
