Sabrina Carpenter's Disney Channel show is going viral

Before bursting onto the charts with "Espresso" and "Please Please Please," Sabrina Carpenter got her start on the Disney Channel. For those fans who first renamed her Maya Hart, it was a trivial matter, but one that became something they were proud of.

The singer starred in Disney's Girl Meets World for three seasons from 2014 to 2017. A spin-off of Boy Meets World , the show centers on the life of high school student Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and her friends and family. Maya is Riley's wisecracking and sometimes troublesome best friend.

In addition to Carpenter and Blanchard, Girl Meets World also stars Corey Fogelmanis, Peyton Meyer, and Auguste Maturo, as well as the stars of the original Boy Meets World Ben Savage and Danielle Fisher.

While many fans were first introduced to Carpenter through the show, many others are unaware of her past with Disney Channel. Given her recent success with the first two clips from her upcoming album Short n' Sweet , clips from her "Girl Meets World" days are starting to circulate online.

"Wait, is that the 'Espresso' singer?" one fan commented on a TikTok video of Carpenter on the show. Meanwhile, another fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "I had no idea Sabrina was a girl from Girl Meets World !"

One user also joked, "If you didn't stand with Sabrina on Girl Meets World , you're not eligible for the Short n' Sweet tour."

"Carpenter's Girl Meets World" cast members Maturo and Kolker (who play Auggie Matthews and Ava Morgenstern, respectively) recently liked the singer on a joint TikTok.

In the video, the pair lip-synced to Carpenter's hit single "Espresso" and captioned the video, "How you met Sabrina, and how we met Sabrina." talk. TikTok then switched to throwback screenshots of the cast members who starred alongside Carpenter in Girl Meets World . "We've been fans since 2013 and you'll soon catch up," they wrote in the post.

Maturo and Kolker aren't the only former cast members the singer has celebrated her chart success with. Fisher, who plays Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World and its Disney spinoff, told Carpenter's Instagram Story after "Espresso" reached a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100 chart congratulate. "You did it my bb! I cried," she wrote in a supportive message.
